Forgive me if this was explained on-air, since I'm watching the game on mute, but why did Ned go with Shouse instead of Turnbow to start the 8th?

Why have Shouse come in against righty and switch hitter when TBow is on 5 days rest?

 

It makes no sense. Could someone explain the reasoning?
