Ray Durham -- Latest: Trade completed? Ford and Hammond to the Giants for sure, no Taschner

If they want Salome, we should want Cain. Seems like a larger deal might be feasible.

Sabean can't be that dumb, can he? To trade Cain for Salome? The guy is one of the best young pitchers in baseball.

I wouldn't mind throwing in Weeks with Salome, Nelson and Ford for Cain and Durham, that might make Sabean look better http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

That is what I was thinking:

Weeks, Nelson, Salome, Ford to the Giants

Cain, Durham and Taschner to the Brewers

I'd pee my pants if we got that. Weeks is probably too young for Sabean anyway.

Just reported on Baseball Tonight that the Durham trade has been completed, per Buster Olney.

Edit: TH says Hammond is in the deal. TH Blog

It would make sense that more would be added than just Ford for Durham, but I would think adding Hammond would mean the Brewers are getting something else back too. I would love for this to be a bigger deal where we get Matt Cain, but that wont happen.

Is Taschner if we are getting him really an upgrade over Stetter because I think Taschner is very average. As far as Durham is concerned if he is going to be a bench player its fine but he shouldnt replace Weeks in the everyday lineup.

No need to rush this deal - please make sure whoever comes over from the Giants clubhouse, leaves the flu bug behind before joining the Brew Crew!

Buster Olney's just jumping the gun.

With how fast Haudricourt is with his blog, between that & the Brewers' website, if it's not showing up as official in either place, then the deal's not done yet as far as I see it.

I don't think Cain is going anywhere unless DM sweetens the pot considerably.

Buster's "source" appears to be the SF Chronicle.

Well, you can't expect him to use the MJS as his source after Haudricourt dominated him with the multiple scoops on the CC trade. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I still remember Buster reluctantly reporting the trade when it finally went down and all his previous reports were wrong in terms of what the Brewers were giving up. Poor guy was so sure both LaPorta and Escobar would be involved, plus other pieces, even though TH was reporting for like a full week that it'd be one or the other.

*Rumor* Doug Melvin really wants Matt Cain to replace Sheets next year. Deal would have to include Weeks, Salome & Nelson plus probably a pitching prospect to do it.

It'll be interesting to see if they announce the deal before the game today...it'd be nice to let Ray-Ray give a fare-the-well moment with his longtime fans in SF.

So is the latest rumor Hammond and Ford for Durham and Taschner? Kind of difficult to follow and I was away for a few hours (unlike me with a deal going down!!).

Oh, please, please, please let Cain be involved somehow.....

In my opinion the deals not done until it appears on a MLB.com site (Brewers or Giants site)
