Helluva poke check by Gagne there.

[pebadger]

Myabe he tripped on his own pantleg.

[brains and braun]

Cannot put Utley on here...

[dlk9s]

Interesting decision to leave Gagne in with Parra warming up. He's looked good, though, aside from the pitch to Werth.

Helluva poke check by Gagne there.

Should've brought a bat to the mound with him and cross checked him.

[brains and braun]

This is his last batter I would guess, regardless.

That has been Gagne the whole season though. He looks good and then all of a sudden he throws a mistake pitch usually when he is ahead in the count.

[mastershake76]

gagne, get out of this inning and all is forgiven.

[brains and braun]

5000 free NLCS tickets and I will make a shrine to him in my house.

[iluvlamp]

KUDOS GAGNE!

[mastershake76]

Wow, that guy they just showed in the stands right before Utley flied out? I hope to god he is not driving home.

[nate82]

Wow got lucky on that one there. Gagne left a sweet pitch up in the zone. Wow how did Utley not hammer that pitch?

[pebadger]

Add on again, boys. Helps the game, and maybe gets the bats finally loosened up again.

[mastershake76]

nothing would feel better going into game 4 (god willing) than to pile on 2 or 3 more here in the 8th.

edit: Okay, well...1-2-3 in the top of 9 is just as good.

The big thing I see so far in this game is no walks by our pitching.

I would say the patience at the plate has been a plus and the defense really hasn't killed us this game.

[dlk9s]

I guess Torres pitches the 9th? Or does Sveum go with Shouse or Parra against Howard?

FWIW, Torres' splits are basically the same vs. lefties and righties.

[mastershake76]

harumph. Down to pitching and defense now.

Torres, please morph into the Torres from July and August...

[endaround]

Yes but Howard doesn't. Howard can't hit lefties. Not going with one is just foolish

[brains and braun]

Agreed. Parra should be in here.

Good point there.

[iluvlamp]

Anyone else nervous? I am. Boy am I nervous. Nervous as a cat in a car. Yup. Pretty nervous. Nervously nervous. Not to mention nervous.

[tigerbrew]

Come on Torres, don't screw this up please.

I feel the same. They had Parra warming up in the 8th in case it got to Howard but since it's the 9th inning in a "closing situation" you can't go with the better split.

And as I type this Howard gets a base hit.

[brains and braun]

Good approach by Torres. That was a nice hit.
