They must be upset with the off season moves too.

I wonder what kind of other sponsorship, if any, we'll lose this year given the economy. We need all the revenue we can get, although like the article says, i'm sure we'll have no problems finding another company to sponsor the field haus.

I had posted a link to the Don Walker blog piece (J-S Online) in the fiscal responsibility thread, but it may well deserve its own topic.

If I had to make a guess at the next sponsorship to go, that MLB-wide deal with Chevrolet would be a good place to start...

Maybe we should pool some money together and have a Brewer Fan dot Net Field Haus presented by Brian.

Must be a slow news day, this is on the front page of espn.
I came here to say the same thing. I'm amazed that this is a frontpage news link on ESPN.com -- not the Baseball page, the main page. Either that proves that ESPN is in tune and gives equal time to even the smallest of markets (yay) or it means they intentionally seek out non-stories that paint small market teams in a bad light (boo).

I always thought it was amusing that the winner of the Mercedes-Benz contest at Miller Park only got a 1-year lease on the Benz. Couldn't they afford to give away the car completely?

I don't think it ever happened. Fielder came really close one time, putting one just in the opponents bullpen, but I can't recall watching a game on tv where the leadoff batter put one in the field haus. that's only existed for 2 seasons right? mercedes probably was just scared that someone was due. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

My favorite moment was Fielder's inside-the-parker this year when the ball got stuck right under one of the Benz logos on the lower padding and Alex Rios inexplicably thought that meant it was a ground rule double. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hopefully they can find a replacement sponsor...a market this size needs good endorsements to survive, no matter how much we hate seeing advertisements placed all over the park.

Ahhh... reminds me of something the immortal Uke once said.....

'Harry Doyle: Well fans, Roger Dorn has done a little redecorating around the ballpark. The outfield walls now look like the yellow pages. And any of you folks having trouble finding a good proctologist, might want to come down here and check out the area around the 375 foot sign. As for the game, we've got a real nailbiter here tonight. It's a lot closer than that 11-2 score. '

"Mercedes is the only sponsor that is officially not renewing for next year," he said. "Their deal was up. We knew going into the '08 season that Mercedes was getting some funding from the national company and sometimes that money goes away.

J-S Online update on the team's financial situation.

Interesting to note: the other sponsors are paying more for their ads, based on the higher attendance / ratings.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Potawatomi Bingo and Casino are expected to announce later today a larger and more involved partnership.

The tribe has an advertising relationship with the team, but the new agreement is expected to be much more involved.

In the earlier article about the Brewers' financials, Schlesinger said that a potential replacement for Mercedes should be named shortly after the calendar turns to 2009. I think the Potawatomi are a safe bet for this one.

If its a one-year lease, I probably wouldn't even take it to be honest. I don't need to buy more car insurance.

I like how the press release brags that the Brewers are the first professional sports team in Wisconsin history to have a "presented by" sponsor. Is that really something to be proud of?
