Jonathan Sanchez with a no hitter (only baserunner was a Uribe error in the 8th inning) through 8.1 innings.

Go Sanchez!

Incredible catch by Rowand banging up against the wall for out number 2 in the 9th.

It'd be cool to see it happen, but kind of a bummer to see the Giants win at the same time, considering their position in the wildcard race.

9 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 11 K. Only baserunner to reach was on an error in the 8th. Probably one of the better lines I've seen for a no-hitter in a long time. Certainly beats the A.J. Burnett 8-walk effort. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

First Giants no-hitter since 1976, and Sanchez was making a spot start for Randy Johnson, who's still ailing with a sore shoulder. Pretty amazing story all around, huh?

Eerily similar to Parra.

Both threw 110 pitches in their last outing.

Both threw 77 strikes.

Both are left handed.

Both struggle with walks and control.

They're less than one month apart in age (Parra is 21 days older)

Both were removed from the rotation recently.

Due to necessity (Johnson injury, McClung ineffectiveness) both were put back in the rotation.

Jeez, I didn't hear about it until it was over--but even watching the local post-game coverage is pretty cool. Kuip: "I think he gets another start." (I kept thinking, "Jeez, this would be like Parra getting one yesterday" too.)

The Giants really have kismet on their side this year (it's getting to be a magical summer around here)--that and probably the best pitching staff in baseball. I'm starting to get the feeling we're gonna need to win the division to get in the playoffs this year, and I'm really hoping if we do that we don't get them the first round.

Bummer that the E5 ruined his perfect game. While a no-hitter is very special, a perfect game has only occured 17 times and arguably is the rarest feat in American sports.

Sanchez's no-hitter was the eighth no-hit, no-walk, no-hit batsman no-hitter since 1883, and the first since 1990.

Bummed I missed this. When I got home last night, I checked Yahoo's game channel to see what was going on around MLB and they showed SD with 4 hits after 6 innings. I only noticed this because I always check the shutouts to see if a no-no is in progress.

Thanks Yahoo for being out of sorts last night (they also had the Brewers still playing well over an hour after the game had ended). I'm going to start checking MLB.com instead at night.

Congrats to Sanchez.
