I don't see what can be learned by putting Gomez into the lead-off spot that can't be learned from putting him in the bottom of the order. The same goes for Escobar.

Giving him more at bats.

I think I'd let him get a few more starts against tough righties over Edmonds if they choose to go that route. I guess I'm pretty bearish on Gomez at this point, I can't stand his approach at the plate right now.

But what does it hurt? He is 24. Let him play and see if we have something.

If you don't care about winning, then stick Gomez in the leadoff spot, but just because he's there doesn't mean he will draw more walks. Just like batting Escobar cleanup isn't going to see him hitting more homeruns. If you want to teach patience to Gomez you might hit him in front of the pitcher where he'll see more balls.

I get what you're saying, but I'd rather see this team try and claw their way back to having a respectable record, even if getting back to .500 is a longshot.

Who's the drunk, homeless-looking guy managing the Cubs?
No kidding. The thin layer of facial hair does not flatter Lou.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Ah, the always dependable clutzy clumsiness of Rickie Weeks.

Why do the Brewers have so much trouble with Ted Lilly? He's nice, but not THIS good. What exactly is the coaching staff telling these guys?

Why on earth is Gomez still hitting 2nd? There is no argument, he can't be hitting there. I'd much rather see Escobar in that spot.

Escobar hits more groundballs than Gomez. Edmonds/Hart or just going with Braun 2nd is probably better.

Absolutely.

I just meant that between Escobar and Gomez, who are considered so similar on this site, I'd choose Escobar in the non-Braun-hitting-second lineup.
