Its pretty dang cold in Eau Claire tonight. lows in the teens and windchills below zero. I'm ready for winter to be done.

No kidding

Man do i despise winter and today was the start of months of freezing hell. My stepsister called from Florida and said she was sitting outside in some shorts, i was so envious.

It's currently 27 degrees with a wind chill of 18. The low tonight and tomorrow is scheduled to be in the teens with wind chills in the single digits.

For our corner of Arizona (Kingman) that's unheard of for November.

I'd wear shorts all winter if it was socially acceptable. I always used to walk the dog around the block even if it was 20 below in the Cities. However, if i did this in the daytime, I'd get so many remarks, I'd put on sweats just to avoid the contact.

Looks like an Alberta Clipper is going to bring the first accumulating snow of the year to Southern WI this weekend. Early estimate is 2-4" of fluffy snow Friday night into Saturday, highest amounts south and west of Milwaukee and Madison.

There's snow on the ground in Hartland. It barely covered the driveway and didn't cover the grass, but it's enough where you can look outside and tell that it snowed.

Latest forecast is 3-6" for Friday night into Saturday. Higher amounts SW of Madison and near the lake.

It's nice of you to peek up north when you get the chance, OWBC. I saw the Christmas lights on the AOS satellite dishes tonight and thought of you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Can't help it, I still love following Midwest winter storms. But I'm not complaining about the forecast high of 75 for the next week here.

And the blue of the Winter Storm Watch once again returns to the NWS Sullivan map. 6-8" possible southwest of a line from the Dells to Madison to Lake Geneva. So counties north and east of Columbia/Dane/Jefferson/Walworth are not in the watch...so far.

They are going to drop that Winter Storm Watch for Madison. Madison will not see more than 4-5" if the current models hold, and even that might be an exaggeration. It's just an Alberta Clipper.

There might be a few 6" totals but it would be in a narrow band in far SW Wisconsin or somewhere along the lake that gets stuck under an LES band for awhile.

It bothers me that I live in Waukesha and sometimes we get more lake effect snow than the counties right next to the lake because of the way the "bands of snow" come off the lake. I try to explain that to people I work with (who all live in Milwaukee County) and they give me a non-believing look.

Looks like this just moved on by on a slight SE path. Even looks like its northern tip will only graze Chicago.

Forecast

As a meteorologist, I should add that I think the actual totals will be less than the NWS forecast. The models have been trending weaker lately.
