I haven't been able to watch too many games this year yet so I don't know if they are working or not. The games I have watched, I haven't heard "he hits it right into the shift"

Seriously Narveson...throw some freaking strikes! This is the bottom of the order!

The Nationals broadcasters are laughing at this shift saying that "baseball has been played a certain way all these years and they're trying to rewrite the game"

and then the jerk ump screws Narvy on that pitch. What a joke.

That was one of the worst throws I've ever seen.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Buckle down Chris, you can't walk the pitcher on 4 straight pitches.
He actually didn't...at least one of them should have been called a strike and possibly two. The strikezone got awfully small for the pitcher there.

By virtue of implied correlation, this is all Nieves' fault.

I concur.

I've never been a fan of the shift, except in EXTREME cases, where you have data that a certain guy NEVER goes the other way with the ball. Narvy's location was off, obviously, but that shift garbage just sucks. Yeah, he looks smart when it works, but when it's an utter failure (aka, that inning) it completely over-rides any positive they get from it (which, IMO, is marginal)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

It's like the old saying "trying to be too cute." That's exactly what RR is doing with these shifts.

Just turned on the game and checked the box. What's up with Narvy?

They must have SOME data to back this up?

Can't find the zone. And when he does actually manage to, the ump doesn't want to give it to him.

He got squeezed on a pitch to the first batter, too, at least according to Gameday.

I didn't see the 1st single but it is very likely Weeks doesn't make a play on the 2nd one even without the shift, it was right in the hole and there was a runner on 1st.
