Greinke is painting the corners and throwing "chase" pitches as opposed to previous starts.

Based on the description by Uecker and contributors here it sure sounds like an Achilles injury. With his heal on the ground and foot reaching for the bag, I can't imagine that being a sprain. Ankle sprains are almost always the result of rolling to the inside or outside of the foot and it doesn't sound like that's what happened. Uh oh..

It looked like an extremely bad roll. He was lunging forward to stretch for the bag while going full speed. I'd be surprised if there isn't a break.

Oh yeah, and if Starlin Castro wouldn't be so bad defensively he wouldn't have had to go like that at the bag. That was a very routine play that Castro made difficult.

It almost sounds as if Reed Johnson was involved.

Counsell is awful and we have 0 good backup infielders.

It won't happen, but it's time to trade Prince and K-Rod.

give me a break...thats ridiculous.
McGehee/Counsell/Yuni infield? And we're going to beat the Phillies?
the giants won the world series last year, did you see their lineup?

also, 4 more days to make a trade.

also, we don't know the extent of the injury yet. based on the looks of it, i agree with assuming the worst. but you never know.

My gut feeling is he will not go on the DL. Either way, either Corey or Casey moves back to the 5 hole.

The yell I heard was somebody yelling "safe", not Rickie yelling out in pain

Counsell crushed that one.

I blame Braun more for his weak groundout with no outs. Killed us with Prince up next.

Or Prince Fielder.

This is the one fact that still leaves a glimmer of hope. Hope our pitching staff is capable of pulling out a lot of 3-2, 2-1 type games in the coming weeks.

I know. I can't believe the guy never steps up and gets a big hit.

Here's my completely uneducated opinion on Rickie's ankle, it's either a sever season ending, or near season ending sprain, Achilles or other injury, or it's one of those things which looks absolutely awful on camera but does no damage and he's back in a day or two. There is really no middle ground on this one I think. Like one of those horrendous football plays, but the guy is back later in the game.

There is actually a still image of my ankle doing something similar when I was playing basketball once. I went up for a rebound, came down on a teammate's foot, and rolled my ankle far enough to actually bruise the skin where the ankle comes out a bit (I don't know the term). Anyway, it hurt like crazy for about 2 hours, it swelled a little, then everything seemed to calm down. Within 2 days I was back out playing basketball. Now I am in no way saying this is an identical situation, that I was going as hard as Rickie, or that this is exactly what it is. I will say that sometimes the body will contort in ways that look absolutely awful, but not be as damaged as one would guess, or at least that is what I am telling myself right now.

Last I checked, the Phillies were in the NL East. There's no guarantee that the Brewers see the Phillies in the playoffs, if that's what you are referring to.

I do not see ANY other scenario than the Brewers travelling to Philly for games 1 & 2.

well OK let me hedge... perhaps a 1.2462% chance of hosting the Braves if we can someone get 16 games above .500 (89 wins) to trump the Giants.

Any sprain is going to require a DL stint, and judging by him not being able to put pressure on it, I would say 15 day DL minimum.

The "no break" really doesn't mean much. Depending on the location of the break, sometimes a break heals faster than a severe sprain.

It really depends on what type of healer he is. I hurt my ankle playing bball and couldnt put weight on it two days but a day after that I was playing ball again. Looked like a softball one day and the next day I ended up running around it

did anyone notice that weeks didn't grimace AT ALL. not that i saw anyways, combine that with no break and i am holding out hope. i've sprained my ankle dozens of times in basketball and every time i've squirmed and grimaced. now i know weeks is tough but his face was perfectly calm! i'm hoping for the best.
