This is true. It's just an auspicious start. Everything that's been in play has been hard hit so far. First inning yips against the Pirates isn't what I expected here today.

I don't think anyone knows what they mean. BA just said that's what DiFelice told him once.

It has to do with hand motion on the particular kind of pitch. Painting strokes on the backside of an X suspended in front of you, as opposed to the front side, which would completely different stroke motion. Think Karate Kid, painting the fence.
