Which are the songs and which are the artists?

I'm not sure if this was supposed to be serious or sarcastic but it made me laugh because I was thinking the same thing.

Mostly serious. I quit trying to keep up with new music in the early 2000's.

Edit: I am guessing the band name is first because bands don't have sequels.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

You don't know who Prince is?

Didn't recognize the name. Only know the symbol.

Didn't get that far down the list.

There is the chance that I am not "hipster" enough to participate in this thread, but here is my list, in order. Like the others above me, I haven't even heard of most of the stuff listed above.

i don't think its a hipster thread. There is just way more music and an unlimited way for people to find it. You don't need to be on the radio anymore to have people know about you. I think this thread is just a sign of the times.

Saw them live a couple months ago. Not what I expected, but awesome nonetheless.

Yeah, I really like "Lazaretto" by Jack White. I'm 48, but listen to The Spectrum occasionally on XM to try catch up on some of the more contemporary music that might interest me.

I was always aware of Jack White, White Stripes, etc....but, until recently, I never really took the time to search for and listen to some of his music. I have done that over the last 5 or 6 months and have found some music that I really, really enjoy. In fact, "Lazeretto", "Freedom in the 21st Century", and "Hustle and Cuss" (The Dead Weather) are now some of my all time favorite songs. I even managed to turn my 16 year old son on to his music. He put together a Jack White CD and listens to it all the time in his car.

1. The War On Drugs - Lost in the Dream

2. Broken Bells - After the Disco

3. TV on the Radio - Seeds

4. Beck - Morning Phase

For about the last 9 months, all I've wanted to talk about was "Lost in the Dream". Privileged to have caught them live at the Pabst in September.

”After the Disco” is absurdly catchy. I've listened to it way more than I ever thought I would and probably more than I've listened to The Shins in the past 5 years now.

”Seeds" is a grower. Maybe not as good as their last, but better than I thought they had left in them.

I wanted to say "Morning Phase" is *just* a re-hash of ”Sea Change" but it certainly holds its own.

I like the new Spoon release well enough, too.

those that live in Milwaukee, radio milwaukee (88.9) is doing their annual countdown of the top 100 albums of 2014 tomorrow. Its always very interesting to listen to.

My guess is that Field Report (local band), Sylvan Esso, or War on Drugs will take the crown.
