Stearns Brewing Co.: Sustainability from farm to plate

Errant throw by Lohse allows a run to score. Next batter doubles, they send Owings, Segura makes a perfect throw home but Maldonado can't catch it and now Hellickson singles and just like that it's 3-1.

Am I the only one who dislikes bringing the infield in early in a game? Just try to get outs...especially in a game which is starting to resemble a dumpster fire in the 2nd inning.

Boy. This team is an absolute dumpster fire. Lohse and Garza look terrible and must have next to no value.

This team is going to be forced to trade Lucroy and Gomez. Hopefully, those two trades garner enough to revitalize the farm system.

I predict Lohse is released August 1st.

(Not Really...but more and more likely he isn't going to be traded period...none the less for something valuable.)

Wonder what it takes to just release Lohse and give a young guy a chance. No one is going to trade for a 6.50ERA pitcher serving up bombs. A couple more garbage starts and might as well just let him go hook on with a contender on a MiLB deal.

Stick him in the bullpen if you don't want to release him and give his starts to Blazek.....but I agree....any chance you had of flipping him to a. Contender is pretty much gone so get him out of there and give someone else a chance.

Maldonado is really, really lazy behind home plate.

He gets a lot of praise for his defense, and he does have a good arm and throws out a good percentage of base runners, but I don't think he's as good as some give him credit for. He seems to struggle blocking pitches behind the plate and plays like that drop he had on that throw to home earlier are just lack of concentration, the same with that wild pitch earlier in the inning, trying to catch a breaking ball in the dirt on a short hop instead of blocking it.

It seems the more playing time he's gotten, the more he's shown he's not that far above average defensively (and with his bat he needs to be far above average defensively to be anything more than replacement or sub replacement level)

Stuff like this happens a lot. Player can't hit but he's in the majors so he must be good at something. I know, great defensive player!

Preston Wilson is hurting my ears.

Yeah, I had to mute it. He isn't good at all. Wish Kapler was still an announcer.

Brian: "We apologize for the technical difficulties. We have a hard working crew working as fast as they can to get the picture back to you."

Brewers fans: "No rush."

well since it looking like we wont be able to trade Loshe or Bronxton due there poor performance.

the good news is that their salary will come off the books for next season.

It's funny, that period where the Brewers weren't losing every single night was actually somewhat enjoyable. We're clearly in the midst of "Brewers slump: 2014/15" part three. Will they get to 20 wins before June 10th? 15th?

I think Maldy is a classic backup guy. I thought he would do really well, based on that stint 3 years or so, ago. But I will guess his body is such that he just cannot handle every day.

The dearth of catchers we have makes me think Lucroy cannot be traded. I will guess Gomez is traded, we give up on this year and next, and we re-tool for 2017 - with Lucroy as the main man. And Maldy will be the backup.

I don't know if Lohse throws a slider or a curve, but whatever it is it doesn't move much vertically or horizontally. He needs to figure that out. If Maldy doesn't give up that passed ball I wonder if he throws a different pitch/takes a different approach. And if first base is open, why not walk him?

I thought Goforth had a 96+mph fastball. I haven't seen him break 93. Am I misremembering?

I think Ramirez is starting to mail it in. Yesterday in five ABs he saw 12 pitches (with Braun and Lind combining for six hits in front of him). Today he saw 15 pitches in 4 ABs. Hard to tell but I think the grounder took a bad hop on him so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn't look like he's putting in 100%.
