???

No surprise, a catcher early, and yet another from the college ranks. I'm sure he was at the pre-draft workout, I'll try to dig up some info on him.

The radio guys said he is an extremely athletic guy, and I think I know which guy it is from last Saturday.

R/R 20 years old...

"Strong, Medium build. Body type like Brad Ausmus. Strong arm with soft hands. Blocks bad pitches and keeps the ball in front. Makes adjustments with the bat and hits oppposite field well. Hardworker. Very competitive."

Catcher Lou Palmisano:

Scouting Report: Palmisano ranks right behind Indian River JC outfielder Steve Doetsch among national juco position prospects, and he'll definitely be part of the 2003 draft mix because he's not under control. Teams have known about him for a while, and he turned down $175,000 as a 21st-round pick out of high school two years ago. He wasn't drafted in 2002 because he hurt his shoulder and required offseason surgery. He doesn't have a gun behind the plate, but he has good footwork and accuracy. He's a very athletic 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, with average speed and opposite-field power to right-center field. Palmisano was very impressive at the Florida state juco tournament and could have pushed himself into the third round. The shortage of catchers works in his favor.

According to the minor league portion of the Brewers' web site (is there one? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ), Palmisano has been placed on Helena's roster. Of course, that could change quickly in coming days or weeks....

Melvin also said last night on pre-game that he was heading to Helena, despite previous info that he was heading to Beloit. Can't wait for short season to begin.
