The other two.... Well a FS reach with plans to convert to CB & a basketball player who had barely played football.... Randell did have moments though. Rollins had never been healthy enough to show anything.

 

I just have a gut feeling that Randall breaks out in Cleveland as a safety... Lots of talent that was handled wrong and then showed some immaturity.

 

Rollins probably should be a FS as well.

Great thing about King, Alexander, Jackson is that they are all Wide Receivers playing CB. All have outstanding tracking & ball skills with ability to make plays! That is huge since Packers have not forced nearly the output of turnovers they where in the Shields Williams Woodson Hayward Hyde days. Need to get back to that

If the draft pick valuations are accurate, I'd rather stand pat and pick first in the 4th. Probably better having so many 4ths and 5ths than a 3rd.

Brees turns 40 during next season's playoffs, so any injury at all could be the one that makes him say enough is enough.

 

It's also an assumption that the Saints are good again. They were 7-9 three straight seasons as adambr2 just pointed out.

 

Brees doesn't even have to get a major injury. At his age a sore back could doom the Saints to 6 wins. It's also the NFL where teams quite often just surprisingly regress. I don't think it's a stretch that becomes a top 20 pick, and if Brees misses time for some reason it can easily be top 10.

 

Even if the Saints win the Super Bowl it puts the Packers in a great position for a run at twilight of Rodgers' time.

 

There's this guy named Kamara, not sure if folks have heard of him. I heard he's a pretty good RB.

I like he draft so far. Grab some beef for the o-line, maybe a WR, and another edge and I’m happy.

At worse he turns out to be so so player who is an outstanding & smart young man! No highlights in video but shows kind of kid he is. Pretty much definition of “Packer guy”

 

As a player I like the pick. Incredible athlete who excels in coverage. Sideline to sideline type guy. Not the mean enforcer you’d get with an Edmunds. Martinez will need to be the strong “Sam” type IB with Burke more of a Will scrap IB. Has a bit of Nick Barnett in him & does over plays & gives up inside leverage on cut backs.

Kamara is great. That doesn't automatically make them a playoff team.

I don't really know anything about Burks. Anyone have any info on him?

 

I watched some video. He's not that big -- so he looks really quick and athletic. We will see how that translates to the pros.

 

Edit: Interesting, i just read some stuff about Burks on JSonline - and they said he used to be a strong safety - and it shows. He just doesn't have the bigness you'd expect in linebacker. Doesn't mean he's bad - just not that big of a guy.

He started at Vanderbilt as a safety and moved to hyrbid and then to ILB. Not sure where he fits on the Packers but I'm guessing ILB, though the Packers as we know are a BPA team, or have been in the past.

 

Really he could be an athletic infusion at LB, where they have some talent but not much athelticism, but he could very well have been drafted as S depth.

 

Or they just think he's good and want to see whwere he fits best.

Regarding WR, I was wondering about Iowa State WR Allen Lazard. Big guy - 6'5" - almost looks like a tight end. Definitely not a burner - but a possession guy. Should be there for us in the 4th round - maybe even lower. You never know about guys like him.

Packers want to go for homerun boom or bust pass rusher, think Josh Sweat should be targeted. He fits that uber-athletic upgrade we need. Was #1 player in country coming out of High School & tabbed as next Clowney. Knee was destroyed early in college but he has rebounded athletically. He had lower production in college. But with 8 picks, to burn one on a freak with hopes to get him to coach him up to his ceiling doesn’t sound awful.

Everything I've read this morning suggests that Sweat will be one of the first players off the board today. If we're interested in a guy like him, we probably have to move up somehow.

 

Okoronkwo, Jeff Holland, and Dorance Armstrong are all Edge guys that are still there beyond Sweat that could be of interest. Duke Ejiofor has the potential to be a late-round steal as well.

 

I like Deon Cain as a WR to keep an eye on. He had some 2-3rd round projections.
