They all have questionable moves. Heck even the ones that work out can be questioned at times. But saying he’s done a bad job, to me, is just flat out complaining to complain.

You can read back in the IGT threads to see a lot of the times he wasn't a good manager... It isn't about complaining to complain.

People who have different opinions than you aren't necessarily complaining to complain. Many different takes on any given situation.

No need to argue about it further, I don't think he is anything better than an average manager, like most managaers in MLB.

This team is currently sitting at 20 games over .500. With a starting rotation cobbled together with has-beens, young'ins and never was'es. With a lineup that approaches theoretical consistency on its best day. With multiple guys who played great last year regressing in a major way. With last year's ace (Nelson) down for the whole year, last year's #2 (Davies) missing a huge chunk of the year, and pitching poorly when he was healthy, and last year's #3 (Anderson) pitching inconsistently for a large chunk of the year. With last year's All-Star closer imploding and getting optioned to the minors.

With all that, they are 20 games over .500, and 2.5 games out of 1st with 12 to play. Yeah, Counsell has done a good job. Sometimes all it takes is a little perspective.

Oh, so the manager can win games for your team but he can't lose them?

Got it...

Never said that. Of course the manager can make bad decisions that can lead to losses. That is a huge assumption jump from what I said. But taken as a whole, I think he's done a commendable job with what he's been given.

I thought there wasn't a need to argue it any further?

Of course if the offense completely implodes and they blow it all together I'll have a different opinion.......cuz we gotta blame someone right.........right!

Every manager can and does make decisions that work sometimes and don't in others. To keep beating the horse at this point just seems like forcing a narrative, frankly.

No need to argue it further but here, let me get multiple last words in to try to make my point.

Got it.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Though it seems like it at times, I am not anti-Counsell. I just don't think there is anything wrong with calling him out when he makes questionable decisions that might cost us wins. No way anyone can say that he hasn't made a LOT of questionable decisions throughout the season.

I still think he is an average manager, like most others...

I was however, anti-Yost and RRR, totally and completely.

Coach Cooper was always the first to say no coach is perfect.

yup, that and don't scoreboard watch.

2 things that Coach Cooper preached on a regular basis.

I agree with you on this point. But good luck trying to find a manager that doesn't make multiple perceived boneheaded moves every week. Sometimes moves work, sometimes they don't. That's what I personally love (and hate) about baseball. I have no issues with calling out a manager on those boneheaded moves. That's part of being a fan too.

The issue I have with the anti-CC posters is that when something goes right - a switch, a pinch hit, etc it's rarely BECAUSE of a managerial decision, as much as a grudged comment about how it worked DESPITE the manager. The "whether this works or not, I still hate the move" posts are prevalent in so many IGTs.

ERAs of traded/FA starting pitchers this year:

Miley 2.23

Mikolas 2.99

Chacin 3.54

Arrieta 3.66

Quintana 3.95

Archer 4.31

Cobb 4.90

Darvish 4.95

Grey 4.99

Lynn 5.10

Chatwood 5.30

And the Brewers finished runner up for Mikolas I think.

Why does BA act like a Cubs fan on fly balls.

Geez, that wasn't even close to being a well hit ball...

Yeah, you could see him just pump the brakes when it hit Votto's glove and then, the catcher didn't let it get too far from him after missing the tag at home. I think if Yelich went straight to 3rd he'd have made it, but having slowed, would have been thrown out if he tried to nab 3rd, I think.

Arcia can run faster than that, right...

No excuse for not hustling, ever.

Getting thrown out at 2B with the pitcher batting and two outs is so crazy inexcusable. What the heck? Just an awful moment from a strategy perspective.
Not just “at Night” anymore.
