This is Stearns biggest mistake > not fixing this Offense vs LHP. The Aguilar debacle hurt, but that was known early in the year. Freitas would have helped. So would have a RH bat at the deadline, but nothing. How can this be vs the Cubbies especially? To me, it’s a massive head scratcher.

The fact this team has to play Grandal at first as many games as it has is everything that is wrong with this season. 4 runs against Ray ain't happening. Take as many pitches as possible try to get him out by the 8th and hope.

Perez has solid career numbers vs Ray as well, albeit in only 9 ABs. Grisham was solid against LHP before his call-up, though, and has never really had drastic splits, so he's probably fine in that role.

No, not really. Not having a bench righty to use against lefty pitching is a definite disadvantage. Grisham was one of the better options, but the problem is there just aren't any good options there.

Just because he doesn’t have drastic splits doesn’t mean he’s the best option to hit against a lefty. I would guess Perez has better numbers vs LHP.
