Here is a tough one. With the close of the decade, who led the majors in hits for the 2010-2019 years combined? Total will be ~1695 hits?

2000s hit leader = Ichiro 2030 H

1990s hit leader = Mark Grace 1754 H

1980s hit leader = Yount 1731 H

I figured it out (not telling the answer because I had to cheat and hunt the hitting leaderboards to figure it out). Hard to believe but the winner never lead the league in hits.

Also it appears that Ryan Braun is surprisingly far up on the 2010s hits list, despite missing most of 2013.

I know the team isn't thinking like this. But last night's events have me pretty much resigned to losing the wild card game. That kind of emotional ride made me feel like the season is already over.

For whatever it is or isn't worth, NL home teams are 2-5 in the two Wild Card era.

I just really hate the wild card format.

The season is just too long for a sudden death play-off format.

At the very least, it should be a 2 of 3 series, but even that feels cheap.

And the Nats are known playoff chokers. All the pressure is on them.

Some early entertainment to get ready for Tuesday:

The best way to do the WC that I've heard is to make WC2 beat WC1 in a double-header, College World Series style.

Benefits us that the weaker team over 162 only needs to win one.

Woodruff/Lyles/Suter/Big Pom/Hader. Sounds like 27 outs to me!

I predict if the Brewers get 27 outs they will win the WC game.

If they get 26 or less they will lose.

I feel like the playoffs would be cheapened by having another "round". Would rather see the NLDS made 7 games and keep the WC as-is.

At the end of the day the Brewers came up short and they are being given a gift of even having a chance. And for being 5th place in the league the path to the championship is about as easy as it gets in any of the major sports. Only 4 wins to be back in the NLCS.

Well under the old format we wouldn't even be in. So as WC2 it's good to just have a chance.

Well you can start to solve the 25 man playoff roster today at least for the WC game. Just begin by removing every pitcher who is pitching today.

Well. If someone tosses an inning and throws 15 or fewer pitches they should be good by Tuesday

Markakis is probably the most forgettable name on that list. Heck of a career he put together with only 1 all-star appearance. An OBP machine.
