Jeremy Jeffress signs with Cubs - 1 year, $850K

Given that the Brewers released him and he fired his agent, I'm wondering if there's more to the story. They could easily have put him on the 60-day dl to finish the year last year.

Honestly I think the Brewers released him as a favor. He could still find a new job at that point and I don't think they trusted him to pitch anymore. He had a chance to latch on to someone needing an arm before hitting FA with everyone else. If his agent is to be believed, sounds like JJ may have been a but high on himself after the '18 season and thought he deserved a better deal. At this point he realized he needed to be in camp with anybody.

Hoping JJ’s career to follow through as it has the last time he pitched for teams other than the Brewers only for him to return to mke and turn into a stud again

Not surprised Kusnick is being as diplomatic as possible, which for him is softly trashing the deal. He never struck me as a passive wallflower.

Which is understandable. I don't think it's possible to be a player agent and a passive wallflower.

I remember I suggested more than 3/12 in that thread and ended up with equal amount of poo poo on my face. Huge mistake in an up and down career to not get a multi-year deal at that point. I’m betting JJ still comes back at some point on a minor league deal and dominates for us.

Well it's not like you could actually make said offer so why wouldn't he say it's rubbish?

Well done.

I would like to be lectured on the mass collusion some more after this offseason.

Cool. Maybe itll help you figure stuff out. I have time. (Yes I know youd hate this

Disappointing contract for JJ I'm sure, but he's still got time in his career to rebound. Hopefully he can get back to 2018 form and put himself in line for a nice raise before 2021. Cub or not I'll be cheering for him when he isn't pitching against us.

Josh, you posted in your other thread that you suggested wrapping things up in November. Is this deal better/worse than what things were looking like back then? Thanks
