Going to be annoying if we miss out on the postseason because stupid Brett Anderson imploded the last game with a blister. Never wanted him and his injuries.

I guess I’m in the minority on bringing in Williams there. Peralta is a strike out pitcher himself and if he can get out of that inning with just 1 run (or even 2) it isn’t so bad and you’ve got a pitcher who should be able to go multiple innings in the game.

It all comes back to having such a horrible offense that you have to feel like you’re out of the game trailing 1 or 2 to nothing.

Second and third with nobody out and scoring just one run (but feeling lucky to get that) says a lot about this offense.

But again, Peralta hasn't pitched in a week.

I think it is completely justifiable to expect a rusty appearance from Freddy there, and bringing him in with a runner at 3B is just asking for it.

It isn't like he is coming in on normal rest and mental prosperity. He was inactive for a week, and his mind was more than likely on his new born and wife most of that week.

I stand by my complaint, Peralta should not have been used with a runner on 3B and no outs. That was an obvious Williams situation.

And I stand by my position. Williams comes in and strikes out the side, and you still have 6 innings to fill. The fact that Peralta was the choice says something about the other options.

Maybe Yardley or Knebel if the goal is to try to get out of the third inning, but not Williams who you know you’re going to need if you have a chance to win at the end.

Interesting that some would rather save Williams for a potential use later on than a guaranteed need.

But you aren't down 0-4...

Scoring 5 runs for this team at times is near impossible.

Well, this is only his 3rd injury of the season, so it could have been worse.

:laughing

Rock continues to say that Anderson was cruising along before that blister... No he wasn't, he was getting tagged, and it looked like he was about to blow up anyway.

At least we are losing to another team that is hungry to win today. Giants and Phillies are playing teams that could lose by 50 and it would mean nothing to their postseason seeding.

Rock is a simpleton. Outs = cruising. Doesn't matter how hard the balls were hit, they were outs so he was good.

I think Topa has a bigger upside than Peralta.

I didn’t hate the Peralta deal because I figured he would be a really good reliever. Whoops, guess that doesn’t even seem likely these days.

I know he's a bit older but Topa has a live arm with pretty good movement

Certainly seems like a serviceable guy. Decent stuff and doesn’t walk guys, seems like a good guy to have in the pen.

Just drill Bader in the buttocks to make me feel good please.

Bill S: “Braun still has it out there.”

What? Playing balls terribly in RF?

But as mentioned earlier an out is an out in Bills mind. Tough catch cause you ran three steps in first? Great!

Padres pitcher is batting because their starting catcher was injured and they had to pull the DH and put Austin Nola in the at catcher.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

The Padres just let a relief pitcher hit with the DH rule in play. That is how much they care about this game.

Better hope it's enough because we're not getting in on our own merit.

No other bench options?

Uecker at first called it a home run.

Grisham/Hosmer

Guessing he is pitching next inning after only 8 in the prior inning.
