This is a great day! Can’t wait to follow these guys again. Heading to Appleton on Saturday to watch the game and then Biloxi next week to catch a game.

Absolutely a great day to have minor league baseball back tonight! I of course wish we had a few more top prospects in our system to follow, but hopefully this is a big year for some of the younger guys, and they start to emerge.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post it, but here's the Opening Day Lineup for our Timber Rattlers, from the team's Twitter account @TimberRattlers:

That guy is happy to be playing baseball.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Who puts Jace Peterson in cleanup in your opening day lineup? Thats like putting Kotsay in CF during a playoff game. Silly.

It's AAA and he's not really blocking or taking at bats away from any legitimate prospects so who gives a you know what? And he's a decent hitter, especially in the minors.

Anyone know anything about Jhoan Cruz? I know that pitching staff isn't the most big-time prospect studded in the organization, but pulling the opening day start and striking out seven, even with the three runs given up, in four innings at least is making me mildly intrigued. And yes, this might just be because of how long it's been since there were minor league games to follow.

Westbrook with a big game, has been playing in the minors a long time but still only 25. Has been a few years since he played 2b but that is where the Brewers put him. If he could play the left side of the infield would like his chances of being called up by the Brewers at some point but tough being 2b/LF.

Was intrigued after seeing he had a big game and isn't a 30-something roster filler. Put up good offensive numbers the past two full seasons in AA/AAA as well. One to watch, though as you note it would be an easier path if he could play third (or first, which at 5'9" can be ruled out).
