Just saw attanasio in the crowd - he is looking a “little rough around the edges” these days

I would guess his alcohol consumption increased markedly in May.

I don’t know, their schedule softens up considerably in June with the a 3 game series with the Cubs as the only winning team on the schedule. I wish the game were more fun to watch but two nail biters against the Padres aren’t real indicative of how they’ll play against everyone else

Now, Craig really needs to be a little smarter here. We've dealt with this runner at 2nd rule for a while now. SAVE YOUR CLOSER FOR THE 10TH!! Especially with where they're at in the lineup. This should be a no brainer.

Hader gets 3 outs and they must be in the 9th or the sky will fall, so sayeth the 2021 version of Craig Counsell.

Start thinking that there is more to the story.... is he not willing to pitch more than one inning? No contract rumblings this year, yet here we are with one inning Hader.

Save your breath. I’ve been banging this drum for awhile now. You keep your best strikeout pitcher to strand the runner. This isn’t rocket science.

This is so dumb. This is Kameron Loe has to pitch the 8th because he's the 8th inning guy dumb. This is having your #2 hitter bunt in the top of the first after the leadoff hitter gets on dumb. This is using Randy Wolf to pinch hit with the winning run on 3rd in the 14th because you can't burn your backup catcher dumb.

Craig was different the first few years.

Counsell manages for 162 games. He's not willing to risk Hader's effectiveness tomorrow, or later in the week, or later in the season in exchange for the uncertain probability of winning one game. I think the numbers back him up.

Thought the same thing every time I've seen him this year. He's gone with the pandemic work at home never be seen by anybody in public thing to heart and never went away from it.

Counsell has this game all lined up for Josh Hader to hold this in the 9th and then Eric Yardley to lose it in the 10th.

If the Brewers offense was a bit more potent I might even cut Counsell some more slack, but based on the likely lack of offensive run production in the 9th it would make so much more sense to play for the win in the 10th with Hader on the mound. If you lose in the 9th instead then so be it, and you didn’t waste Hader in another loss.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I disagree. This isn't an extra inning game right now. The worst case scenario is losing the game in 9 innings with Hader never coming into the game.

This is the kind of game good teams find a way to win and bad teams find a way to lose. We already know the Padres are good. They have fought back multiple times. Let's see what happens here for the Brewers. The Padres have the heart of the order coming, and against Yardley, if they get to the 10th.

Adames 4-for-5 today including a double and a home run. Not bad.

He has the only extra base hits for the Brewers today.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Out of the entire team, he gives me the most confidence that something good will happen at the plate.

The player with the least amount of time impacted by Haines. Makes sense.

Maybe they will leave him in the 2 hole instead of the black hole of Cain/Vogelbach/etc...

I mean he pitched yesterday, I'd rather he didn't come into this game unless its the 10th or to save the 9th.

Now it's an extra innings game, what do you do?
