Matt Lipka has been a nice addition to the team (.870 OPS in 154 PAs, with 14 SBs, principally playing center field). He leads the Sounds, which try to bounce back from a close loss yesterday:

Is it time to start a red hot Felix Valerio thread yet
I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Sal Frelick has played 16 games as a pro including tonight. He's gone hitless twice and he's had 2 or more hits more games than he's had less than 2 hits (9 vs 7)

What a season so far from Felix Valerio and somehow left of the MLB top 30 update

I haven't been this excited about the system in many years. So many breakouts this year (obviously some might have happened last year and they just didn't get the chance) and stellar debuts from this year's draft picks. Gray, Wiemer, Valerio, Hedbert, Mitchell, Frelick, Murray, Zamora, Black, Binelas, etc.....can't wait to see what they do going forward.

I'm with you 100%. Our system has no doubt been down the past 2-3 years (even though we've still had some guys come up to the big leagues that have been highly productive players), but I definitely a feel like a resurgence has happened this summer with many of our young prospects having breakout seasons. In fact, I was a bit shocked that MLB Pipeline only ranked our system 25th in their latest ranking (just outside the bottom 5 teams). I didn't think we'd be top 15, but I definitely thought we'd be somewhere around the 18-22 spots. Maybe I'm just overvaluing some of our own prospects (which is possible), but I do really like the influx of young positional players we have coming up through the system right now. Only real complaint is the lack of pitching prospects after Ashby and Small.

All the more reason why we:

- will probably protect Justin Bullock in the Rule V Draft

- hope for a full recovery of Max Lazar and not to lose him in Rule V

- hope for a full recovery of Clayton Andrews and not to lose him in Rule V

- face a possibly tricky situation with Carlos Luna - he might be a free agent; if not a FA, then he's available for Rule V; he might be injured after leaving early last night

He's 5'-7" tall. Its impossible for him to be a successful major league player

I put that in blue but it would not surprise me at all as to why he was left off the top 30.
