It would also appear, C Luis Severino and RHP Dinelson Lamet have been designated for assignment to the Nashville Sounds. And, RHP Peter Strzelecki has been optioned back to Nashville:

I was going to say it was time to cut bait on Corey, and wish him future success elsewhere. I don't know what would be the best thing for him. I hope he saved much of his $4.1M signing bonus.

With all of these now reactionary moves (Whitley and Ray down to AA), Peters to AA and then traded.  Seems like moving up all three AA OF to AAA could have waiting a couple days.  I like all three but would have been fine with just calling up one or two instead of all three.

- RHP Luke Barker is now showing as "released" on his milb player page (oops - @Mass_Haas beat me to it, with proper details above)

RHP Mason Vinyard has been signed as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky University.  6’2” 210 lb. relief pitcher that showcased exceptional strikeout stuff this year.

The whole situation regarding Luke Barker is quite disappointing and this latest update does not match up with the conversation I had with him just this morning.  Like I said to Luke, if he didn’t before (which he did), he certainly has an army of fans rooting for him now.

Lost in yesterday's shuffle, it appears, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have released LHP Arman Sabouri. We wish him the absolute best in his next endeavors - be they baseball-related or life in general. Best of luck, young man!

- SS Eduardo Garcia promoted to High-A Wisconsin from Low-A Carolina (hey, I speculated on this possibility in todays write-up)

- OF Oswal Leones assigned to ACL Brewers Blue from Low-A Carolina

Looks like Vinyard (sister Martha?) was set to transfer to Kentucky for his senior season, but based on the above report, will join the Crew instead.

This June 2022 article provides several insights into Vinyard's background.

- LHP Arman Sabouri was released from the Wisconsin roster.
- Infielder Carlos Roa was released from the ACL Brewers Gold roster.
- Catcher Nader Garcia was released from the ACL Brewers Blue roster.

About the releases (links point to MiLB Player Pages) -

Arman Sabouri, 24 years old, was drafted in the 12th round out of Cal-Berkely in 2019. He appeared in 21 games with the Advanced Rookie Level Rocky Mountain Vibes that summer, and after the lost 2020 season, would open 2021 with the Timber Rattlers in High-A, and made 22 relief appearances before his season ended on July 30th. He would undergo Tommy John surgery in mid-September, so is not quite yet a year out from that procedure. Sabouri joined with a friend to post several spectacular YouTube travel diary videos on their "National Park Dudes" page we had linked to previously, especially during 2020's shutdown.

Carlos Roa will turn 21 in September. Roa was off to a spectacular start to his professional career in 2019 when as a 17-year-old, he posted a .417/.423/.625 line over his first 13 games (48 at-bats). Roa was on one of the Crew's Dominican Leage clubs while fellow shortstop Eduardo Garcia was dazzling on the other. Both players were sidelined by injury within a week of each other, Garcia played only ten games before a broken ankle ended his season, while Roa would undergo left shoulder surgery. Unlike Garcia, who remains a top prospect and was promoted Friday as shown above, the less-heralded Venezuelan native Roa did not recapture the magic in either 2021 or current season.

Nader Garcia, now 20 years old, signed out of Venezuela in June 2019 and debuted as a just-turned 17-year-old with four games in the Dominican League. After the lost 2020 season (tired of typing that, but it'll be part of every farmhand's backstory for the next several years), Garcia was brought stateside. He has seen limited playing time, appearing in 35 career games. He does have one Arizona League home run to his credit, hit in 2021.

Our best to each player on their life journeys, both with baseball if so and without.

LHP Clayton Andrews is currently on track for an early to mid September return to game action.  However, the organization is still deciding whether to have him return at that point or wait until instructional camp this fall.  Unfortunately, it also appears that his days as a two-way player have come to an end, although that was always somewhat of a long-shot.

RHP Alec Bettinger has been released

INF Alberis Ferrer has been placed on the 7-Day IL

INF Ethan Murray and LHP Russell Smith were also placed on the 7-Day IL

(apologies for the earlier "Arbert" or whatever that was usage - I was errantly auto-corrected. ?)

Bettinger's only 27 years old. I'm surprised the parties decided to move on, but I have to admit that something's been off throughout 2022 for him.

Russell Smith's injury leaves Wisconsin with 13 pitchers (vs. 15 for Biloxi and 15 for Carolina). Hopefully that means a promotion from Carolina is in order, as there are many legitimate options (e.g. Stiven Cruz's 85K / 17BB ratio; excellent bullpen work from Michele Vassalotti, Pablo Garabitos, Miguel Guerrero, Karlos Morales, Brannon Jordan; or even today's starter Alexander Cornielle - season ERA 3.47 with 10.9 K/9).
