- C Pedro Severino opts for free agency as well.

So does that mean Feliciano will be on the Brewers next season, or will they acquire a C?

Caratini hit .199, so we definitely need to pick up a #1 catcher. I assume the current plan is to carry 3 catchers on the 26-man MLB roster, since it’s so easy to bury the 13th bat. But that they’ll come to their senses before April and let Feliciano get 400+ PAs and regular catching in AAA. He needs regular playing time, in my opinion, as he’s just 23 years old.

After missing the entire 2022 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, RHP Juan Geraldo threw a simulated game for the first time this week.  The right-hander understandably struggled as a 19-year-old with A Carolina in 2021 and will still only be 21-years-old for the majority of the ‘23 season.  Interesting young arm to keep an eye on going forward.

RHP Josh Lindblom is a free agent, does not have to wait the requisite five days after the World Series like other minor league free agents, due to his big-league deal.

I don't know what happens or how it washes out for Josh, but he was an absolute pleasure to watch pitch in 2022. He was a rock in that Nashville starting staff. Other than a mid-summer lull where he self-admittedly was errantly working things out on the mound during game days, he was a rock star. He was slated to pitch the Finals in Vegas. Let's hope he comes back where he would be welcome with open arms. ?

Well, we received news of a wagon train of players most likely leaving the station electing Minor League FA - joining beloved, RHP Josh Lindbolm in the baseball bachelor circuit - in the past 24 hours:

  • OF Corey Ray
  • INF Yeison Coca
  • RHP Carlos Luna
  • OF Matt Lipka
  • RHP Zack Brown
  • RHP Miguel Sanchez
  • RHP Hobie Harris
  • INF Pablo Reyes
  • INF Antonio Pinero

I wish each and every one of these men success. Perhaps, we're lucky enough to see a few of them back in the fold. Always a bittersweet part of my own process.

Well, that's interesting.

Several thoughts here...but, most prominent among them is a small sense of validation for my consistent comments re: Reminton Batista's output in the DSL. He was a very under-the-radar steady performer and I had him up there as one of the better performers across both the DSL 1 and DSL 2 rosters.

That's too bad. I heard Reminton had a rifle for an arm.  :-)

It feels like we’re losing more upper level relief innings than usual this year. Boxberger, Hader-Rogers, Harris, Brown, Walters, Sanchez, etc.

Agreed - I was having the same 'feeling'. And, if I'm being honest, given the middling performance of trying to plug-and-play acquisitions (recency bias) at the trade deadline I don't quite know what to think. Granted, the counter to this would be the incredible success of finding gems during last year's Minor League FA signing period. We'll just to have to see what Captain Arnold and his staff have in store.

Brewers sign 18-year old Cuban outfielder Yunior Santiesteban.

More from Francys Romero: “Excellent body (6´3, 185 lbs) with room for more development, left-handed contact hitter, speed and plus arm, above average. 320 AVG, 5 XBH, 11 SB in 12 attempts and 16 BB in the last National U18 in Cuba.”
