Pretty ugly box.

At least the TRats got on the board with a pair of runs. Wes Clarke a pair of doubles, Tristan Peters a pair of walks. Carlos Rodriguez a pair of hits including a double.

Ugly box. Ugly showing. It broke open early. I'm not kidding when I type above: it started with the stolen base. But, additionally, Ryne Moore is really struggling to find his way here in the early going of High-A. He did start this game much better than his first outing - he's faced the two top teams in his promotion debuts. It's probably going to take him some time to learn how to fine-tune his stuff. He's a guy who relies on a deceptive delivery and doesn't have a ton of velocity so he's going to have to really locate precisely. He can't hang anything as his pitches all look the same - if that makes sense.

Feliciano sure has been good this month.  Just needs to find his power stroke, which has been curiously absent. Should be a fun youth movement in the lineup next year with him and Turang targeted for the opening day roster, with Wiemer perhaps not far behind.

Remarkable improvement from Michele Vassalotti in Carolina.  He looked unimpressive last year.  Full time move to the pen and whatever was produced a 26/2 K:BB ratio and I may not being seeing him in Carolina much longer.

It's the move to the Pen for sure. He's been absolutely dominant since that move. Sometimes, literally, that's all it takes for a pitcher's mindset. Conversely, and oddly, it's the opposite end of the spectrum for Antoine Kelly who admittedly prefers a bullpen role but is utterly dominating High-A as a Starter ?

Perhaps Hedbert is turning a corner? He’s had some pretty good games lately. It’s great to see.

He could be. This is a game - 10 total bases - that could turn things around. BUT, let's not over-inflate what he's done til this point: very little in 2022. This isn't a dig, mind you. It's just what I see on a night-in, night-out basis to date. BUT, it's May. That's not that big a deal.

For reference, however, even with tonight's 4 of 5 performance? He's still batting 0.203 in the month of May with an OBP of 0.611. There's a reason he didn't make my current early-season Top 20. He hasn't been that good. The talent is there. I sincerely want to add him in my revised numbers. The talent is definitely there.

Glancing through today's box scores, I noticed that Zack Brown has posted some solid numbers out of the bullpen in Nashville. He was taken one round after Burnes in 2016 and is a guy many were excited about after his Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Year campaign in 2018, though he quickly lost his luster after a rough 2019 season in then-AAA San Antonio. @Julio MuchachoIs he a guy that could potentially get a look with the big league club this season? Or is there something that I'm missing? Control issues, maybe?

Called up? I would say, unlikely but certainly possible. He has been solid to date, for sure, but it seems as though tonight was his first higher-leverage spot of the season. Understandably so with Sanchez and Kelley called back up. Perhaps this means in uptick in more challenging scenarios?

Something missing? He is just in and on a extremely good pitching staff. So, there’s a lot of proven veterans with much longer track records of performance. At least, that’s my take/hunch. His peripherals are decent but he is also only k’ng 7.5/9 -identical to 2019. He is simply experiencing much better luck with BABIP in 2022 versus 2019.

We’ll have to see how his season progresses but, overall, I’d days his season is most likely spent in Nashville as a hopeful means of establishing a run of success and something to build off of.
