It's concerning that Adames had quad discomfort after his Carolina game and wasn't in the lineup for Nashville again tonight.

Hopefully they don't play over-cautious with Renfroe.  He said he would be good to go Friday if they activate him.

Id rather they be over cautious with Renfroe than have him het reinjured.  Its a long season and they need him back, if for bothing else to give Taylor CF permanently

Signed in late, just in time to see Hiura SO to LHP. Then I think he SO twice to RHP. Sorry folks, I just can't get into the Hiura fan bandwagon, he just isn't any good.....

100% agree … why double the pain … Cain & Yelich are unwatchable

I would be careful about lumping Cain and Yelich together here. Yelich is at least OPSing over .700, and the metrics indicate that should be at least 50-75 points higher. Cain is OPSing below .500, which is absolutely not acceptable for a major league player.

Thats a crap answer from Counsell.  Im a fan of his but all options should be considered especially when you have better rh hitters available in an end of game situation.  Also for the rate of $ per production, Counsell shpuldnt have to worry about sparing Cain's feelings.

Agreed but the Yelich factor is made worse by Counsell hitting him in the three hole where he is getting exposed. Cain at least has his glove. Yelich probably should be a dh at this point. Both are unwatchable in my book. The money just makes it hurt more.

On the positive side, the Padres are coming to town fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Cardinals. They are also very injured and experiencing serious issues with their lineup.

And at least we can beat the Pirates, unlike the Dodgers who won 1 of their 6 games against them this year.

Shocked he was asked frankly but he blows them off with no follow up so...

Not defending Counsell, or Cain for that matter, but my focus going into the top of the 10th was "Can Cain get a bunt down? Can he get one on the ground on the right side?" I never thought for one second he would be pinch hit for, because Craigy just ain't gonna do that.

Watching Yelich hit every day, and not being an avid follower of some of the new metrics, I would raise the question of whether Yelich is an example of a flaw in the metrics.

If that is based on exit velocity and launch angle, but doesn’t take into account how the defense is positioned, IMHO it is flawed. Between the strikeouts and balls hit sharply but right into the ground toward the loaded right side of the infield, I’m not seeing that many times Yelich is being robbed relative to the easy outs.

If defenses were positioned like they were until recent years when the extreme shifting became common, Yelich would have a lot more ground ball singles. But with todays defenses he’s playing right into their hands.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Hey all, how'd Jason do in his first start with the Big Boys? I see we went to extras but I was watching all our Minors losses. LOL. Did we win? ?

Didn't trust his stuff in the first, walked three & allowed 2 runs (1 earned). He settled down in the second, got 3 ground balls, and I knew if he was going to be successful that's what it would look like---both halves of the plate, sinkers, throw strike one, lotsa ground balls. And that's exactly what happened through the seventh. I was impressed.
