I wonder what the plan is for pitching to white hot Harper with 2 on and none out.

Exactly what they did.  Low and outside.

That threat ended in a hurry.

For a pitcher who throws pretty much all sinkers with a slider now and then, you will feast on GIDP (hopefully).  His first start was pretty amazing as I think only 2 balls made it into the air, everything was either a grounder for a hit or out.

I wonder if the Brewers still think Woodruff is going to need a rehab start. Because if so, we'll probably see Alexander for one more start after this.

Have to remember the Harper DP when someone gets a cheap hit to knock in a run.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

92.1 Exit velo on that Bryce Harper groundout.

When Yelich grounds out to 2B on a 94 mph groundout, all that will do is even out Harper's hard groundout.

That sequence would be a good example to make the case for Yelich batting lead off. Scratch his way on base then let him run.

I have no doubt Cutch can still mash against lefties.

He had like a .650 and .690 OPS the last 2 years vs RHP, so it's not like he was brutal vs RHP.  I'm sure at his age some further dropoff was foreseeable, but this loss in production probably wasn't expected.

That being said, CC needs to swallow his pride and not have him hitting cleanup, and not playing every day vs. righties.

Good to hear that Freddy is starting the rehab process. If that goes smoothly, we could definitely be looking at sometime in August. Could be a nice shot in the arm for the stretch run.

Even with the uptick in HR all of a sudden the offensive numbers for 2022 are still down 10-20% compared to 2021.  That's gotta impact players on the decline likely more than younger players still with their skills in tact.

Despite what he says publicly, it is my opinion his confidence is shaken a bit. I would play him against lefties to get that confidence back and then sprinkle him in against righties once he gets it going. It has to be a major adjustment to have that long of an 0fer.

I don’t put a line drive that the 3rd basemen can only grab on a short hop because it was hit right at him in the same category as a ball driven directly into the ground that takes a couple of Sunday hops to one of 3 infielders on the right side.

I feel like Alexander is one of those dudes that might be able to go through the league once and have some decent results, and then go around a second time and get tagged. Maybe I'm wrong, and he's gonna get hit hard after a few starts, or he'll just have decent results.

Just something about him screams "Taylor Jungmann" to me.  If that's all he is, and he can stabilize a spot in the rotation until guys get healthy, well, there's value in those types of guys too.

Once the play happened, there's no cosmic karma that dictates it needs to be balanced out by some tipping of the scales.

Historically that might have been the case, but with the current launch angle environment, Alexander's pitch repertoire is anti-launch angle and he could have some extended success.
