Its all pitiful to think about but this trade deadline might be the worst in team history

Just when I think you might have an actual point, you go and throw this kind of line in and completely blow it. Sheesh

I know I will get shouted down for saying this but I think Stearns has checked out and can't wait to get to New York. If this is the case Attanasio should let him leave after the season. No way do I trust this guy to get what we need when we are forced to trade Corbin and another give away trade like the Hader one will kill this franchise for years to come.

I guess we are pretty much locked in to Arnold to replace Stearns when the time comes but I would make the bold move and get Luhnow who must be allowed back by now. Its all pitiful to think about but this trade deadline might be the worst in team history though I'm sure someone will find some more awful deals to compare this one to,

So, you want Attanasio to let Stearns go, don't want Arnold to take over (presumably because he's too similar to Stearns way of operating), and instead you want him to be replaced with the guy Stearns formerly worked under? Who was also fired because he oversaw a scandalous sign-stealing operation?

This is a bad team

Certainly not a good team ... mediocre, bland, average, vanilla, 81-81 ... terrible division ... one great week following the All-Star break among two pretty bad months ... not a playoff team

I guess making the playoffs beats the alternative but really who is this team beating in a series much less winning multiple series.

I hear Jim Mora ... Playoffs? Playoffs?

The deadline definitely affected the clubhouse but they are going to have to suck it up and deal with it. Most of these players are not going to be here in 2025 and the rest of us don't want to watch a 90-loss Brewers team in three years.

To mean, management is acting emboldened to do what they want regardless of the consequences for optics or clubhouse morale or whatever else.

The debate is, to what extent is clubhouse morale the FO's responsibility? If they're so disillusioned right now, they need to have it pointed out to them that at least 2 of these 4 losses physically had zero to do with Josh Hader not being here. Suck it up, deal with it, indeed. If they're bothered by this, I would tend to add "grow up".

They are all adults getting paid six, seven, or eight figures a year to play a game. If they're brooding over losing Hader, they need to get the heck over it.

It was a bad series, though.

I think it's actually a good thing that they are upset because it shows that they want to win. Ultimately it's Counsell's job to get them over it.

Stearns needs to get his head in the clubhouse and out of the spreadsheets and financial reports.  Get a feel for what the team is feeling.

Counsell needs to get his head out of the stat sheets, and play hunches and get a feel for who's hot and who's not and manage accordingly.

Attanasio needs to sell the team or be willing to open up his pocketbook when we have the most talented roster ever according to him as he said this preseason.  Go for it, Attanasio, or get out of here ... when we have a chance!

These guys are going to make this an excuse when this season becomes ultimately the failure it will be.     When they were clearly playing like garbage for two months or so

and maybe they weren’t happy with the trade    But then our so called greatest rotation in mlb should go out and lead     And all they did was stink and give up leads       These players need to play not mope around

The story on JSOnline says without further explanation that Rogers was unavailable today.

So, let’s recap this. Rogers pitched on July 26 and 27 (last Tuesday and Wednesday) blowing saves in both games. It was the 11th time this season that he pitched on consecutive days.

Then he didn’t pitch again before being traded on Monday, and threw one inning last night. After working one inning in a week, he is unavailable the next day? ***?

I’m half expecting now that we’re going to find out that he has an arm problem that might be a reason why he stunk up the place in July, giving up runs in 8 of 11 outings.

If the guy is hurt or can only pitch one inning a week, that will cement this as the worst trade in Brewers history.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

OK then. I might have thought that players would be taking a lot of red eye flights. But hopefully this is the real explanation and not a coverup for something else.

He didn’t pitch on Sunday even though the Padres were in a save situation. At the time the report was that he was being removed from the closer role because he had been ineffective but maybe the Padres were just holding him out because of a possible trade.

Because this trade is so unpopular, if Rogers isn’t effective he may be in for the Schoop treatment from Brewers fans who generally are not booers.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Lotta definitive statements in this Game Thread. Lotta season left. I encourage everyone who is struggling with the Deadline decisions to take a step back, take a deep breath, and get ready for the games ahead. Just as an ugly unfortunate sweep can happen on the road in Pittsburgh, so can a 10-12 game win streak at any point in time. It’s going to take some time. And, who knows, maybe the Brewers really aren’t good enough in 2022. This could definitely also be true. I’m going to be rooting for them to get red hot at the perfect time. It can certainly happen.

You can see the doubt in this team after the Hader  Deal. Totally set the wrong tone. Mark needs to be all in To win this city a WS. Stearns not sure what his thought  process  was  that he traded Josh now.

Well at least we’re (yet again) celebrating the 40th anniversary of the World Series losers this weekend

40 years later, and that’s still our franchise’s shining moment.
