Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the DSL Brewers 2 vs DSL Phillies White has been suspended. I imagine they’ll attempt to make this game up when the two squads face off again in two days - 8/20.

Nice to see Lara breaking out of his slump in a big way.

You mean a casual 4-for-4, 5 R, 3 RBI, 1 2-run HR jack? Yup. That'll do. That'll do.

Nothing like giving up a 5-spot in the ninth frame...and winning by 6 runs. That'll also do.?

It's 20-year old RHP Stiven Cruz's (4.60 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in Carolina) High-A debut tonight! Down 2-0 in the series after a tough loss yesterday, the Timber Rattlers need a win in Cedar Rapids to narrow the gap. Offensively, C Jeferson Quero was a mysterious last-minute pull from the lineup yesterday and is absent again today (color me concerned). SS Eduardo Garcia has a 5-game hitting streak:

Looking at the forecast and radar in Jacksonville, I’m thinking the Sounds will get the night off tonight.

It sure seems that way for now. Thunderstorms and high winds expected into the late evening. Yuck. Send some of those my way, please! It's 100 F and dry as a bone. Ugh.

Low-A Carolina is up 2-0 in their home series against Fayetteville, with 20-year old RHP Edwin Jimenez (4.52 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 93 2/3 innings) making his 15th start (22nd appearance). 1B Jesus Chirinos hit his 10th homer of the year yesterday and has a 1.018 OPS thus far in 56 August plate appearances:

In Brice Turang's 391st career minor league game, he's making his first-ever appearance at third base, as AAA Nashville aims to grab a 2-1 series lead in Jacksonville. RHP Dylan File looks for a 4th consecutive solid outing (2.40 ERA and 3 wins over last 15 innings):

RHP Victor Castaneda looks to notch a 3rd straight win and extend his solid run of form (1.64 ERA over last 22 innings), as Biloxi strives to grab a 2-1 series lead on the road in Montgomery. RF Garrett Whitley comes in with a 12-game on-base streak:

Eric Brown Jr. just hit his 2nd Low-A homer - a two-run jack - here in the 3rd inning to tie the game at 4 apiece. He drives in INF Robert Moore (who continues to get on base with regularity - single and bb today). RHP Edwin Jimenez rewards the knock by giving up a lead-off double to start the fourth ?

Per Adam McCalvy, Turang was supposed to play 3B tonight. We'll see what happens tomorrow given the rain out.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Entertaining game for the Carolina and Fayetteville fans. Now 5-5 going into the 6th inning. RHP Jeison Pena comes on in relief.

Brown has the 2-run homer. Avina and Fernandez have RBI singles. Robert Moore has singled and walked. Sibrian has a double.

After playing two games at 2B and looking natural doing it - he can play anywhere on a baseball Diamond. He’s that good.

There we go! Hendry Mendez has homered to give the Mudcats a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Manager Estevez has been batting him leadoff, almost as if they’re trying to make up for the lost injury time and get him back to the high level he was playing at. Way to go, young man!

Veteran catcher Jose Sibrian has also thrown out two attempted base stealers to aid the cause.

Wisconsin loses 1-0 despite 1-hitting a tough Cedar Rapids team. Stiven Cruz deserved better.

Well, at least Taylor Floyd is throwing like it’s 2021 again: 7 batters faced - 5 strikeouts, 1 ground out, 1 HBP.

Mudcats win 10-5! AND manage to finally pick up a game on red hot first place Fredericksburg in the process. A great night in Zebulon.

Starting to get REAL intrigued by Mendez. Even in the low minors, when I see someone with a 1:1 BB/K ratio AND putting up numbers I get excited.

Looking at some of Jace Avina's stats I see, along with the gaudy HR total, that he's been hit 16 times. Safe to say we got us a fella who crowds the plate & likes the ball in?

Something else to keep in mind with Hendry is that he is only four months older than Chourio, so still incredibly young compared to his level of competition.

It’s officially ‘Monsoon Season’ in the Southwest. Both ACL games cancelled by rain. The dry lands breathe sweet relief. Whoever picks up all these doubleheaders for their Link Report…might sigh a bit heavily.
