CHOURIO BOMB. OH BABBBBBBBBY. Whereas Patrick Dorrian can't corral a classic flare pop up just inside and down the third base foul line (after the homeplate ump blew two strike three calls on the batter before....ugh) and drops it in his manic pursuit...Chourio ropes a 3-run jack off the foul pole down the right field line. YEAH BABY! It's 4-0. Whewwwwww. 310' down the right field line off the pole. Wow. Just wow. When the stroke is pure, even seemingly benign hits have power:

A lead off Andruw Monasterio double here in the bottom of the 5th is giving the Sounds an opportunity to get on the scoreboard. He ripped a well-hit grounder over the 3rd base bag and into the Nashville foul territory bullpen. The Sounds still trail 3-0. And, just like that, Dorrian legged out a high chopper down the first base line. Men on the corners. Nobody down. Frelick at the dish...and he hits into a routine double play. Right at the shortstop. Monasterio scores regardless. 3-1. 2 down.

RHP Taylor Floyd is BACKMy goodness, young man! How about a bases loaded situation. NOBODY out after yet another seeing eye grounder found pay dirt off recently promoted Brannon Jordan. THREE consecutive strikeouts. He's found that nasty again. I swear, his slider might just stop; take a drink; and have a conversation en route to home plate. My word. What. A. Turnaround!

Oh hey...just like that...a lead-off Jeferson Quero triple. Huh. I swear I just made a remark in the Top 30 article. Well, how 'bout that!?

Feliciano bomb to deep straight away CF. 3-2 Sounds. Do they have the comeback in their bag tonight?!? Let's hope so. Great swing!

Big Jon Big Three Run Bomb.

5-3 Sounds after 8.

I love this. My broadcast is always minutes behind because I go back using the '15 second rewind' button. I'm minutes late with these highlights. MAN, that was AWESOME. Just after Wiemer struck out on a nasty off-speed pitch foul tip.

Catch me if you've heard this before in 2022:

Biloxi comes back to tie the game in the top of the 8th (Cam Devanney I SEE your MLB Pipeline Top 30 absence and I laugh) and, lo and behold, the bullpen loses the game in the bottom of the 9th. My word. How many comeback opportunities or wins blown? Let's NOT look.?

RHP Jake Cousins on to try and close out this stolen Singleton-sponsored victory. He looked quite good in his last outing. Let's hope he keeps rising up!

That's two consecutive Cousins outings showcasing the best version of Jake Cousins we know. He's got that ol' stuff back. I'm excite! Sounds win 5-3. WHAT. A. WIN. Let's Go!!!!!!

1-2-3 inning from Cousins. Always a good day when you are beating Redbirds!

It's not the 1-2-3 that is impressive (and it is impressive). It's how he got there. He's getting back into his groove. Movement. Deception. Location. Fantastic two outings in a row.

It would be great if Ethan Small can have a good outing tomorrow. 11 BB in 11 IP in August.

It certainly would. Indeed. Columbus lost at home tonight to the Iowa Cubbies - the division lead is back to 3.5 for the Sounds. Let's hope Smallsy can at least keep that lead where it is or, baseball gods willing, extend it. I'm hitting the showers. Another fine night of Minor League Brewers baseball in the books.

Alright, Cipppppp! First pitch solo bomb over the wall in left field. Looked like possibly a changeup? Exit velo of 102. 1-0.

This just in: Stiven Cruz is a pitcher. Man, he's fun to watch. Not in the MLB pipeline so called 'Top 30'? Yeah, right. This kid, at 20 yo, already has a fairly high floor. 5 K's through 2 IP. He's not quite on tonight but he never seems uncomfortable. And, man, he is so dang crafty.

I've seen Trevor Hooth from Prospects live talk about Cruz several times this year(among others young farm hands). Apparently he's been up to the mid 90s and...everything you say he is(not that I ever doubted it).

There seems to be a bit of anxiety on this board over the looming end of the Woodruff/Burnes era, but it seems like scout Salvador Ayestas(I think I spelled that right) who was responsible for Cruz and the rest of this organization are already doing a really good job churning pitchers out. And that's before you consider what Burnes/Woodruff COULD...possibly, maybe net in a return should we choose to deal them.
