I was hoping to get Rogers back on a 1 year deal, thought a late inning lefty would be perfect for us. I don't hate the 11 mil AAV but for 3 years, that's steep

Or maybe this is just the price of doing business now.  Contracts are just going to keep going up and for longer.

Terrible for small markets in a cap less game. Yuck is right. Arbitration will go thru the roof too if Rogers is getting 11 million.

The Brewers are going to need to become very good at developing their bullpen - from closer to back end - out of the farm system and they need to lock up some of the really valuable types, like a Brent Suter, long-term early on.

One reason the Crew shouldn't have supported either reducing the number of minor-league teams and reducing the size of the MLB draft. More picks = more chances to hit.

I would have taken him back, but not at that contract....Giants really spinning their wheels now

The Mets really skewed the market this off-season. Mix that with the Giants just missing out on a few big players, and they’re now going to pay up for the lesser guys.

The Brewers have to hope that the Mets will have all their mega-deals in place in future years. If the market keeps going up at this rate, the Brewers won’t be able to afford free agent batboys.

Yeah I don’t think we’ll be signing any good bullpen parts now.  the giants seem to be competing  with the cubs as far as having no direction at all.

Brent Suter isn’t valuable, nor should we be signing guys like him to long term contracts, ever.

A good, experienced lefty in the pen, cost-controlled for 3 years at what will probably be an overpay at $11M/season? IMHO, his track record is strong enough that he's a safe bet to be a good, rosterable lefty for all 3 seasons, and at $11M, the overpay won't be that bad.

I would've exhaled with relief had the Brewers made that deal, rather than inhaling with deep concern.

Brewers aren’t going to pay 11 million a year for 3 years for a non closer……especially one coming off a bad year.

Relievers are very fickle……. no way I’d do that deal…….better places for that money to go.

Cost controlled? Sure. But Wildly irresponsible, and expensive spending with our apparent payroll, of course.
