It's a 5:05 Central start for Sounds' Season-Opening Doubleheader

Welp, just like that Miller gives up a first pitch smash to dead center field - 440 feet off the bat. It was a first pitch breaking ball over the heart of the plate. Not the start Miller was looking for.

Erceg just made one heck of a play on a swinging bunt down the 3B line in the 9th inning. He pitched two extra innings with the runner on 2nd and didn't allow a run either inning!

He sure did. And fired an absolute flat footed dart to first base. Honestly, I think striking out batter 1 of his second inning on three straight 87 fading change ups was even more impressive. Great first outing!

Winning a game with 8 combined errors between the two squads (four apiece) on a walk-off wild pitch was quite fitting. Heck of a way to start the season. 2-0 feels darn good!

No surprise but Frelick picking up where he left off last season with a bunch of hits, walks and stolen bases. Dude just gets on base.

He's such an electric player. Everything he does is with high octane mad man effort to boot. He's an MLB player, today.

Sounds leave 16 men on base to the Bats 6. The Sounds had to win this game given how many times they stranded runners. Austin Jackson really struggled in key spots. Keston had a heck of a game 2 with the solo bomb and three free passes. Much better work at first base in game 2 as well. I am hoping to see Big Jon in the line up tomorrow. I need my Singleton fix.

If Hiura has 1.100 OPS in May, does he get recalled to Milwaukee?

I think so. While we can’t freely option him between MLB and AAA, I believe that he has to accept the assignment to AAA each time (assuming he goes unclaimed) or risk forfeiting his $2.2m salary.

More than big offensive numbers, I think at this point a recall would involve either a lot of players really falling on their face or a ton of injuries. We have plenty of DHs/ 1B types so I would guess Frelick is more likely to get a call if you want another hitter since he has more versatility. So I'm inclined to think the Brewers would have to see something on the scouting side indicating he had made adjustments.

From a strictly baseball vantage point, no historicity involved, you had to be extremely pleased with the AB's from Hiura last night. He got better, more patient, and more selective as the game wore on. As a baseball fan, he is truly a pleasure to watch in Nashville as he is a truly dangerous bat every trip to the plate. I simply hope he can continue to reduce his ridiculous strikeout tendencies of the past couple years. I am hoping he still gets some run at 2B but that ship may have sailed.

Frelick, man, he just impacts the games in so many ways. Above and beyond his talent, which is blatantly obvious, it's his fire; passion; and competitiveness. The young man fights for everything - it has to be contagious as a teammate. He'll passionately argue what seems like every close ground ball out. It is quite obvious when you watch the Triple-A games: he is an MLB player today and, other than the fact he actually isn't an MLB player today 😅, I don't really think it's debatable. The talent and abilities discrepancy with a guy like him and other guys across the League is quite something. It truly is a small difference between Triple-A caliber player and MLB player but it is there and Sal definitely is well beyond the right side of that line (if that makes sense).
