I didn't think much of his signing at the time, but I wonder if we might have something. His development was hindered by the Covid year, and he was rushed to the majors.

Can he be a versatile defender with an OPS closer to .800 than .700?

I think his ceiling is a low to mid .700's OPS guy which is valuable with good defense. Unfortunately he is below average defensively but still has a role on this team until he gets more expensive.

Maybe his defense is below ave , but this team needs some offense ! His ab's look good, seems like he has good understanding of the strike zone , not a lot of wild swings at pitches out of the zone .

I'm all for riding the hot hand but he did this last year with Cleveland as well. Let's see if he can keep it up but with guys like Voit, Winker and Brosseau on the roster he should get plenty of opportunity. Really impressed how he came through in the 9th last night after Turang had a poor at bat. He's earned more playing time against both righties and lefties.

Miller has 3 more 2bs and 5 hits less overall than Adames. It's time to move attention from Yelich batting woes, to Adames. He has 100 PA more than Miller. 185PAs  5 2bs on the season. How do you play every game this season and average below 1 double a week while being in the 3 spot the majority of time.

Giving out a long-term extension to a sub .300on-base SS that strikes-out too much, no matter how good his arm is doesn’t make sense — at all.

Strange thing about Miller is he has versatility, but that doesn't mean he's particularly good defensively. And his best spot (2B) is manned by someone who IMO also needs to get regular time.

I get the feeling he'll start seeing regular ABs, just not a regular position. Which I don't like since run prevention is always going to be critical. Right now it is what it is.

I think his offensive upside could surprise us all as long as he continues to make consistent contact.

Miller still doesn't have much of an upside because of his limited power, but he could become a very solid utility player.

Hernan Perez but actually good. 10ish HR, good average, good defense. There's just not enough power there.

Miller has a BABIP of .391. His xwOBA is .292 compared to his OBA of .373. His ROS ZIP is a WRC+ of 82. He's Hernan Perez with worse defense.

Miller’s xwOBA is .311 (Fangraphs is always a day behind) and he’s looked way better in May since he was put into basically an every day role. His xwOBA this month is I believe .382 or .376 can’t remember which.

Yeah, Miller also hit waaay better than Hernan throughout their minor league careers which I think gives him a little more upside with the bat even if the MLB results haven't quite been there yet...

Miller
Age 21 (A-): 216 PA | 135 wRC+
Age 21 (A): 114 PA | 145 wRC+
Age 22 (AA): 560 PA | 121 wRC+
Age 24 (AAA): 206 PA | 132 wRC+

Hernan
Age 21 (A+): 475 PA | 79 wRC+
Age 22 (AA): 384 PA | 105 wRC+
Age 22 (AAA): 74 PA | 101 wRC+
Age 23 (AAA): 596 PA | 102 wRC+
