Prospects Live has created a Mock Draft Simulator for the first five rounds of this years MLB Draft. Though obviously not perfect, with there being no good way to implement the bonus pool system, it's a pretty fun tool to play around with. The link is below (keep in mind, you have to simulate each pick one at a time in order to get to the Brewers).

I did this draft:

I think this would be an expensive draft for the Brewers.  I doubled up on 3B as two fell in my lap with Taylor and Morales.  One will move over to DH probably Morales assuming both hit like they should.  Not really happy with the pitching options that were available.

Taylor and Morales are basically the same player just flipped on their offensive strengths.  Taylor is a 60 hit 50 power hitter while Morales is a 50 hit 60 power hitter.

Love it! I think you'd be doing just fine in terms of money with you going almost all in on college players outside of Mako. I like Kuehler a lot as a fit for what the Brewers like in a pitcher. I worry that neither Taylor, nor Morales can actually stick at third base, and think Taylor specifically is more likely a left fielder. I like Taylor's bat much more though. Morales likely can play third, but I'm not sure it'd be done very well, and his offensive profile concerns me. Low walks, big swing and miss concerns. I can deal with whiffs, but they worry me more when it comes with a lack of feel for the zone in general.

I like the idea of saving money on the 1st pick or 2 with college players and then getting the highest quality arm or 2 possible after. With only reading 50 or so draft scouting reports here is what I would hope for.

1) Jake Gelof 3B,  He has big power and walks as much as he k's. I don't think there is a ton of difference between him and the higher ranked 3B college bats. MLB.com ranks him 42 so we could save a bunch on this pick.

1 COMP)  Cole Carrigg  C/SS/OF  A high end athlete who can play SS, CF, and C, not to mention switch hit. This seems like a perfect guy to have with Contreras down the road. He has 60 speed, and at 6'3" there could be a little more power to come. Ranked at 45 he might take a little bit less than slot.

2) Alex Clemmey  LHP   A 6'6" 205 lbs. lefty who throws 98-99 with high spin, sign me up. This really could be 1 of 10 or so pitchers who could drop. He is ranked 50th but might take a bit more to sign, A younger left handed version of Misi

3) Mac Horvath 3B/OF   22 hr and 24 sb at UNC. Probably will strike out to much but the tools are great for the 3rd round.

4)Cole Miller  RHP    Back to taking the most interesting arm available at this point, maybe some higher ranked players fall and we still have some cash to sign them.

5-10 College players (JuCo)   I haven't read enough on anyone outside of the top 100 or so on mlb.com scouting reports to have any favorites.

I am wondering if the Brewers go with CJ Kayfus (1B).  He is a really good defensive 1B and has the hit tool and power to stay at 1B.  Would be an interesting comp or 2nd round pick.  He may not be available in round 3 where the Brewers are picking.

Totally forgot about Gelof... Jake at 33 and Nolan Schanuel at 18 would be great gets for us!

Brock Wilken would be a good get as well.

I just want to finally have a power hitting 3B prospect in our system.

I landed Shanuel, Brice Matthews, Jake Gelof, and then draft eligible sophomore SS Alex Mooney in round 3.

Matthews is a seriously underrated bat, especially for a 2B.

Just saw Matthews line for the season... looks like he'd very much fit the Brewers mould of Bats (similar K:BB) while also some big power and can leg it out a bit

What's his defense like?

The defense is still developing, but he is playing SS, He's an athlete, and should be fine when he moves back to 2nd.

I went all college except for the last pick here:

Not sure why Taylor keeps on dropping to me at the 18th pick but I will keep on drafting him there if he is there and hopefully he does drop and the Brewers select him.

I really like Witt and this could be a steal in the 2nd round.  He is coming off of TJ surgery but I think this is a good steal at this pick along with Carlson Reed in the 4th round.

May have to go above slot a bit for Hunter Dietz but I think he is a potential #3 type of a pitcher if he develops an off speed pitch or two.  He has an electric fastball.  He has thrown a slider/cutter but it is a work in progress.

Average arm, can struggle with accuracy.  Could move to 2B or possibly CF.

Biggest concern is he has some swing-and-miss at pitches in the zone.  53 Ks this year in 265 PAs.  Definitely agree that he's on the Brewers radar.

MLB.com has Brayden Taylor at #30 overall, likely why he's there at #18.  I do agree that he should be in consideration for #18 overall.

I think there's probably a 0% chance Davis makes it to 33. I wouldn't be shocked if he was gone before 18 even.

For reference. A is Chase Davis, B is Dylan Crews, C is Cam Fisher, D is Wyatt Langford.

Weirder things have happened in the MLB draft.

There's a bunch of hitters better than Taylor at 18, but I love Davis at 33. Too many pitchers this early. We've proven well can build a great pitching staff without the help of highly drafted pitchers, and we remain starving for offense.

My latest attempt had me selecting OF Chase Davis, 2B Brice Matthews, 3B Jake Gelof, SS Alex Mooney, 3B Sabin Ceballos, and 1B Brock Vrakenburg. Mooney is the only overslot player, as a draft eligible sophomore.

This is by far my favorite draft I have had so far. The chances that Troy makes it to 33 and Waldrep gets to 18 after his outing this last week are slim to none, but I'd rather live in the fantasy world where they do. Zanatello is likely not cheap, but with all the other picks being college players, that might make it possible to sign him. Lasko and Fisher are both solid hitters with some real juice in their bats. IMO, Hopkins has as high a ceiling as any non-Skenes/Waldrep pitcher in the draft with a nasty sinker and slurve, and a decent four seamer as well. He hasn't focused on pitching full time yet (something the Brewers seem to see as a positive) so he's got a ton of untapped potential.

This was the first time Chase Davis did not make it to 18 for me, as the Giants took him at 16. Probably my favorite realistic option at 18.
