Seeing the replays on both sends.  Out by 2 steps each.  Miller took 2 awful slides.

Send down the 3b coach and call up Nashville's 3b coach.  Can it work that way?

It is very hard to win 2 games in a row when you give up 13 runs and do not hit a HR.

By all rights we should have lost this one (Throwing Clayton in extras, getting that run on Contreras running to first, being down 4 in the 8th). Stings not to have stolen it because it was right there.

Brightside: Williams and Payamps get reset. Cubs bullpen is wrecked.  Take care of business the next two days and go beat up on the Reds.

Lots of what-if's here.  I sort of understand the one in the 10th as there were two outs after the catch was made.  The one in the 9th is inexcusable; there was only one out so there was still an opportunity for a sac fly or fielder's choice/unable to turn a DP to score the run.

I go back to Swanson's HR.  Earlier in that AB he pops one foul down the RF line that is exactly as geographically far as you could possibly get from all of the RF/2B/1B and it landed in foul territory with both Turang and Perkins sliding to make the catch.  Miley got the pop fly, but it landed in the only place it could have where it could not have been caught.

Apologies if any of this has been mentioned as I have no desire to read 10 pages, but regarding the sends by Lane:

Most people overlook one of a 3B coaches biggest responsibilities: not only the outs but the next hitter. If he holds the runner in the 1st scenario the ball gets cut & you wind up w/runners on the corners, one out & Tapia (not an easy DP candidate) at the plate. The second time, the chances of Happ throwing Miller out was better than 50-50, but holding him leaves you with 2 outs & Wiemer coming up.

The first send was a mistake. Not the biggest one I've ever seen, after all Ed Sedar roamed these parts, but pretty big.

I'm perfectly fine with the second one.

I miss BA at 3B.

Maybe we found something to flesh out the back of the pen. Bukauskas looks like he belongs (in the limited role, anyway) and that's a nice changeup by Andrews IF he can get to it (setting it up by getting a favorable count).

I agree it's hard to win twice giving up 13 runs. But.......they scored 14. I'll take 7 per all season long, HRs or not.

We stole one yesterday, and agreed their pen looks spent. That's why I laugh when I hear "they're taking too many hittable pitches!!!" The last thing you wanted to see today was Hendricks sitting there in the 7th inning at 82 pitches. As good as he was, they did a decent job getting him out after 6. Gave themselves a chance.

Listen to this doofus.....coming from the side that had a rain out on a day with zero rain and lobbied to change city rules for game times to allow their team to play a Friday night game for the first time ever

Lane must have needed to take a dump

No other explanation - especially with one out

If that's the case all is forgiven. But which would live longer in our memories, his brown trousers or those calls

I was wondering about that because I didn't see the game and don't feel like watching the "lowlights."
