His overall trend the last few years and the fact that he's 43 suggest that he is probably out of gas.

However, his numbers are simply mediocre, not utterly unplayable, so if they wanted to pick him up for essentially free and let him DH against LHP, I'd have no issue with it.

What is the WRC+ for our DH's?

Well, Winker has a 124 wRC+ over the last 2 weeks FWIW

Bottom line is we’re better off trying to resolve things internally until the deadline (Hiura?). Cruz is cooked and offers zero positional versatility.

i'm gonna guess  that means the DH's have combined for less than a 96 WRC+.  Given the switch from PETCO, that might just creep up to league average.  How is that not an improvement if there is minimal risk even if it is short term?  This team has wasted enough time and games, even a short term improvement is probably worth it.

Because it’s about what you’ll get going forward. I’ll take Winker’s 123 wRC+ over the last two weeks and see if he can keep it up until the deadline. You’ve also got Hiura available in AAA with more upside at this point.

Adding Cruz would be making a move just for the sake of making a move.

The Brewers should be aiming a lot higher than a 117-year-old Nelson Cruz.

No doubt, and I am sure they are.  When that happens they can cut Cruz loose.  In the short term, why not?  It's not like this team is beyond marginal improvements and they have been picking up scrap heap pieces all year and making it work.  I just don't see the downside.

That's true.

Do the Brewers claim him on waivers from San Diego. Approx 500k Remaining on his contract, his .682 OPS would be better than Tellez, Adames, Turang, Winker, Perkins, Tapia and Wiemer

That's just...wow. What a terrible hitting team.

It’s interesting that he got DFA’d with those not terrible numbers and even splits. Roster spots are just too valuable to carry a DH with an OPS below .700. The Brewers already have Winker so they don’t have a spot for him. Someone will probably pick him up.
