That is one way to give back to the community.  Of all the advertisement ideas I wouldn't even be against this.

I mean...if you're talking about getting ~1.4M for it, I'd honestly rather the tavern association or whatever...deciding which Taverns get a patch for each game, paying and then having Kelly's Pub for one game or whatever it may be...then I suppose it be worth it.

But I'm taking the 5M from Harley if they're willing to.

It's not about every last dollar, but it's not like the OF walls at a MiLB stadium, it's a patch. I'm cool with that. That basically pays for the Latin American signing class each year. It IS a business.

If we were just going for nostalgia or whatever, it'd still be Miller Park.

But I understand your position.

If you look at market size for a baseball team based on the number of people in the area in which your team would be the natural “local” favorite team, it only stands to reason that the Brewers would be in one of the smallest markets.

Many metropolitan areas that are similar to Milwaukee have other cities in their natural areas of fan interest. Cincinnati, for example has the closest major league team for cities like Indianapolis, Louisville, Dayton, and Columbus,

The Brewers natural area is less of a circle than a compressed semicircle because of Lake Michigan to the east and Chicago to the south. That geography gives the Brewers a lot fewer people who would naturally be fans because of geographic proximity.

I don’t believe that the Brewers market of fans is anything other than one of the lowest in MLB.

If you look at the teams below us(and we're 25th)...they're teams that are going through rebuilds or there are other extenuating factors(the As for one).

The Brewers are just a small market team. Those are the restrictions. There's no easy fix unless we're all going to be Nashville fans and watch them build a massive Stadium in an up and coming affluent area or Paul Menard purchases the team.

Short of that, 150M is probably where they can top out right now. If the State takes care of the renovations and they don't have to worry about that. Sadly I don't see any politicians in this state to give any consideration to the Brewers window for contention.

But The Rays and other teams have proven we can win without that monster payroll. We've absolutely stil got the infrastructure in place to win a WS. I'm not saying I think it will happen, but I'm saying over the next 6-10 years based on the talent we have, I think we can be a contender.

I am alright with that. I'm enjoying this season. I'll enjoy the Chourio periods and all the competitive years between. And the non-competitive years, I'm gonna enjoy watching whoever is making an MLB debut and the farm system.

Some fans say I'm "Happy with making the playoffs and getting swept," because I'm not demanding these massive signings. I'll control what I can...and that's enjoying the Brewers.

Brewers may have good tv viewership but it's about the ability to sell commercials and how much they can charge for ad time. From what I remember the Brewers seem to run the same 4 or 5 commercials ad nauseum, that tells me businesses aren't breaking down the doors to get a commercial for their product added to the rotation.

The Brewers have made it very clear they have no intention of rebuilding.

They may not call it rebuilding, but with Burnes/Woodruff both on the outs here momentarily, they are quite unlikely to be a serious WS contender...heck, they aren't even that now.

Counsell probably doesn't want to man a ship that is going to be projected on the outside looking in just to make the postseason...let alone a WS.

Well, they are that now. They're the 3rd seed at the moment in the National League. That makes them a WS contender.

Obviously if they lose Burnes and or Woodruff, on paper their chances of winning would get quite a bit smaller, but they should still have an outstanding bullpen(likely even deeper than this years with Uribe more established and if McGill can harness his stuff and you add that to Williams, Payamps, Peguero, Milner). The year we went to the NLCS, we have Gio Gonzalez, Chase Anderson, Wade Miley, Brent Suter, Junior Guerra, Peralta.

They pieced together a rotation and made it work with a great pen and with a good offense. I don't think it's a stretch to see a similar team next year but with better SP'ing. Miley could be back, Peralta, Ashby, Gasser, Rodriguez and who knows which prospects rise up or who we acquire in those trades.

It's certainly an optimistic outlook, but not an unprecedented one. And I expect Chourio, Black, Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer, Turang, possibly Quero and then a Wilken or Boeve type could force their way in.

I'd still put that team at ~84 wins rather than the mid 90s, but I would think there would be enough encouraging talent that a drop in play wouldn't be the reason Counsell would hang it up.

I think IF Counsell retires, it'll be because he's burnt out and just wants to spend time with his kids. And I'd still expect him to be employed and around the team. Especially if Pat Murphy takes over as the manager.
