I'm feeling pretty good about my 30 runs prediction in the Braves game.

When I see that offense I feel like the Brewers will be lucky to win a game or two out of six against them.

I'm just not sure what the hold-up on Winker is. They must REALLY like him as some kind of talismanic presence or something, or else they have very little faith in the AAA guys. Could be both.

It's tough to even complain much about Jesse given the lineup I see every day. This team is about 3 bats away from a halfway decent Major-League offense.

This is a tough stretch. Bullpen should be well-rested for the next two. Don't get swept, try to win a series in ATL.

The offense notwithstanding, I don't see how the team can keep Teheran in the rotation anymore. Maybe they're waiting on Woody to come back. Either way, I hope they go back to a five man rotation. In a division that will likely be decided by three games or less, we'll need Burnes to get those three extra starts.

RF a problem too…. .559 OPS.  2nd worse is Cleveland at .594.

So Black, Hiura, and Frelick could, mind you, could easily be brought up to play a combo of RF, 1B, and DH.

Small point, but the ATL series is at home

I don’t think Teheran is going anywhere til Miley comes back from the IL

I didn't even know Miley was on the IL. Still doesn't change my opinion.

Adames is still on pace for about 2.5 WAR this season. You absolutely bring him back in hopes of a rebound and even if he doesn’t, $10m for 2 WAR is decent value.

My main point is that we’ve traded or cut better players for less money.  If it’s a “go for it year” where they push payroll sure. But If they focus on cutting payroll again and retooling then his status would be in jeopardy.

Absolutely.
Bringing back Burnes, Woody, Adames, Tellez, Williams, etc would be costly… definitely watching bottom line.

Mostly due to defense...something Turang can also provide at short for league minimum next season.

Teheran gets a couple more opportunities with no Miley and no Woody and no one banging on the door but Rea.

Adames is a .200 hitter. And he hits 3rd. So pathetic.
Hiura, Black, Frelick, rentals, and most others on roster deserve spot more. Same with Winker.

At that point you tender Adames and trade him. Releasing him is a huge waste.

Turang falls WELL short of Adames on offense. And Adames’ defense has been better than Turang’s at a more premium position.

Theres no equal value to be had between the two right now.

Turang needs to hit MUCH better before he hits even as well as Adames has this season.

Yep, and he has time to develop and improve as a hitter while making peanuts at the MLB level.  Adames is in his prime and making a ton of money to flirt with the mendoza line, getting hot for a couple weeks 3-4x a year to wind up with 20 or so homers, and doing nothing offensively in between from the heart of the order.

At least I think all the talk of giving Adames an extension has gone away from even the most ardent supporters of throwing piles of cash at marginally decent players to watch them regress past their prime.

Adames is in arb. He’s not making a ton of money.

Having a 60 wRC+ player like Turang in your lineup can sink a season. It’s a bad plan A. His offensive progression cannot be assumed.

Compared to what Turang will make next season, yes Adames is making a ton of money.

Turang will become a better offensive player than he is now, while Adames is what he is.  Having a #3 hitter doing what Adames is doing this year at the plate is what can sink a season.

You’re assuming only positive things from Turang and only negative from Adames, who is 27 years old and having the worst offensive partial season of his career.

Why are you so confident in Turang? His MiLB OPS is .741, which is .020 lower than Adames’ MLB OPS.

I expect Adames to hit .250 with some power… .750 OPS to be middle of order bat that plays daily.  Otherwise, bat him 7th in this offensive deficient lineup and even pinch hit him late at times.  Hardy wasn’t much worse when he was sent down to AAA in 2009 with no great other option at SS.

I don't ever expect Turang to be a middle of the order bat or be a better offensive player than Adames was in 2022 or 2021 for the Brewers - he wont ever have enough pop to raise his slugging high enough...but he doesn't have to be in order to be a valuable everyday SS as soon as next season when you also factor in him not yet reaching arbitration.  Turang's AAA numbers last season for a 22 yr old are plenty to expect more from him at the MLB level moving forward as he settles in.  This is also by far Turang's worst offensive output as a professional,  and he has a track record of adjusting to the jump at each level.
