DSL2 prevails 6-3 over the Braves.

Demetrio Nadal (1-1, BBx2, HBPx2, SBx2) filling up the box score while Pedro Ibarguen also went 1-4 with a double and stolen base. Christopher Vaszquez homered for the fifth time bringing his line to 203/370/531 on the season with 34 K | 10 BB and 7 HBP in only 81 PAs so far. Vivan Los Tres Resultados Verdades!

Luis Guevara had a nice start at 5 IP | 1 R | 5 H | 0 BB | 4 K while Lenin Mendez followed up in relief with 3.2 IP | 1 ER | 4 H | 1 BB | 7 K.

I think it's fair to say the DSL Cerveceros Uno struggled to protect their 2-1 lead today resuming their previously postponed (lightning - top of the 4th) tilt with the DSL Dodgers Bautista.

Saw the score and that it was a completion of a postponed game, so I figured I'd leave that one to the professional re-cappers,

Just in time. Ibarguen has an intriguing package - frame, build, and swing. I've been pleasantly surprised by his output all summer long:

He has a little bit of Brock Wilken in that stance:

Low-A Carolina plays at White Sox affiliate Kannapolis this week, with 21-year old RHP Alexander Vallecillo (3.83 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 44.2 IP) starting the opener. RF Luis Castillo has a 6-game hitting streak.

Nashville hosts White Sox affiliate Charlotte this week, with the opening game perhaps pivotal to near-term plans for starting LHP Eric Lauer (1.29 ERA with 11 Ks in 7 IP in 3 appearances since assignment to AAA) and rehabbing 1B Rowdy Tellez (2-for-18, 2 singles, 2 BB, 3 Ks).

Wisconsin welcomes CF Luis Lara (.285 AVG / .379 OBP / .354 SLG in 318 Low-A PAs) and rehabbing 1B Jesse Winker to High-A ball for this week’s series at Twins’ affiliate Cedar Rapids. LHP Nate Peterson (3.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 54 IP) starts the opener.

Winker rehabbing at 1B is quite funny. I just don't see anyway how he makes it back onto the roster unless another injury happens.

Well, when you consider the ongoing extremely unimpressive work from 1B Rowdy Tellez in his own rehab outing it 'might' make more sense? Hard to tell.

Vallecillo begins his night at Kannapolis with consecutive free passes. He then gives a first pitch liner to CF where O'Rae adeptly and quickly charges and gets the ball into the pitcher's mound. Bases juiced. Nobody down. This is a far cry from his last 5 Inning, single hit (solo homer) outing at home versus Delmarva. This is his first start at Kannapolis in 2023.

There's hardly room for Rowdy!

Five pitch walk. First run crosses. Three walks and a single. No outs. A visit to the mound should be in order here. And, yes, here comes the pitching coach (Michael O'Neal) to the hill.

Man, Vallecillo is really struggling to find the zone. He's not missing by much at all but he is missing. He's not getting any chases either. Consecutive 3-0 counts. He walked his first run in. He's in danger of walking in his second here. Rough start.

RHP Gerson Calzadilla is already warming up. He walks his second run in. That's four walks in 0 IP. He is going to be extremely hard-pressed to make it out of this inning. He now gives up a first pitch liner down the 1B line. 4-0 Ballers. Yuck. Still nobody out. Pitch count to 27.

Sac Fly. BUT an out! 5-0 Ballers. Man on 3B after the double tag. Pitch count at 31. And another sac fly to Castillo in RF. 6-0 Kannapolis. Yowza.

One thing is he has been ripping balls, the loft will change everything fast but he's had a fair few balls over 105 mph. Winkers barely done that all year but they'll definitely be hoping one of them forces their hand

Mudcats are showing some fight to start the 2nd inning. Two very very hard hit screaming liners past the diving 3B into LF followed by a hustle double on an 0-2 liner to CF. Men on 2nd and 3rd. Nobody down. 6-1 deficit. You love to see the immediate fight!

The Mudcats grabbed back 3 runs. That's big. 6-3 deficit into the bottom of the 2nd.

Meanwhile Chourio struck out swinging on a heater high and in just above the zone in his return AB. He needed to lay off that pitch.

Both C Jose Sibrian and Manager Victor Estevez do not appreciate the ongoing strikezone in Kannapolis. He has cut the zone in 1/4 by my eyes. AND he is repeatedly hearing about it from these two.

LF Jace Avina just flashed some serious leather with a diving snowcone catch helping out his struggling pitcher! Great charging play.
