On my way to First Horizon Park to catch the Sounds tonight. Is there anywhere I can see a lineup in advance?

Ashby with another rough rehab assignment. He got 2 outs on 26 pitches with 4 BB. Only 6 pitches were in the strike zone. Boushley gave up a grand slam after Ashby was pulled so Nashville is down 5-0 in the 1st. Ashby’s final line: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 0 SO. It’s been a very rough rehab assignment for him. 6 IP, 6 H, 12 R, 11 ER, 11 BB, 6 SO, 1 HBP.

Honestly at this point I don’t think we should have any expectations for him in 2024. He has a long road ahead of him still to get back to being an MLB caliber pitcher.

Short porch in RF for that grand slam. 310 ft, and cleared the fence by ~10 ft. Unfortunate.

It seemed like Ashby was being squeezed, but not the best angle to tell.

AAA has ABS for ball/strikes so no squeezing. He just wasn’t throwing strikes.

Chourio breaks up el perfecto with a 104 MPH single in the fourth.

Chris Roller ended the fifth trying to stretch a bloop single (64 MPH at 38 degree LA) into a bloop double.

Ah, we were wondering about that. Thanks!

Mitchell reached on error, and Chourio followed up with another single (only 102 MPH this time), but the Sounds bats remain otherwise silent.

Trailing 5-0 entering the seventh.

There have been 3 really good plays by Jacksonville defenders to rob hits. 2 diving catches in the outfield, and one ranging diving stab by the second baseman on a grounder. Wiemer was one of the victims, as was Winker, don't recall the other.

It's not as straightforward as it is being made to be here. They have already adjusted the way they formulate the strike zone once already in 2023 (I'm on record questioning the zone myself on more than one occasion). Before the season began:

"The second question (we’re trying to answer), which is also a very tricky question, is the geometry of the zone,” Sword said. “And coming up with a strike zone to load into that system that will produce ball-strike calls that make sense to both teams and promote the kind of on-field outcomes that we are seeking to promote. That is, we are finding, a very tricky problem. We’re hoping to make some progress on that question this year.”

The zones aren't universal and the way the tech is used or set up park-to-park is different. What IS universal in a game, however, is the zone used is the zone used - ie there is no discrepancy or alterations happening in real time.

The other thing not mentioned here, even though it isn't relevant tonight, is the final 3 games of every 6 game series in the International League in 2023 uses the Challenge system (which I am highly in favor of). In other words the ABS is only used the first three games of every series.

Liking for the in person reporting, not the Jumbo Shrimp web gems.

If there were such a thing as a triple-and-a-half, Mitchell just got one. Ripped to the gap in right center, absolutely flew around the bases, fans were legitimately thinking he might try for home.
