I will like to see them sign another FA pitcher

Agreed - doesn't have to be a big ticket, longterm deal, and there are some guys still out there who make alot of sense to add 1 more veteran piece to solidify the rotation for 2024 so the youngsters can get get their feet wet without being leaned on too much right away.

I could see a one-year value deal on someone like Mike Clevinger, Michael Lorenzen or Jake Odorizzi. Brad Keller would be more of an upside play in the hope that some time in the pitching lab can fix his control issues. Of course, there are still the "baggage" guys like Trevor Bauer and Julio Urias, too. They would obviously have to really do their homework if they went that route.

Big NO to Urias.

Big YES PLEASE to Bauer!

Trevor Bauer is the guy I'd want them to target - I think he could be signed for a reasonably-priced 1 year deal with some sort of option/opt-out tied to it....and if the Brewers fall on their face he'd be a firesale trade candidate.

I think Ryu is still out there and expected to take a 1 year.   Did generally fine after coming back form injury last year.   I'm also a bit underwhelmed by our rotation and would prefer another proven guy of some kind.

Burnes, Peralta, Miley and Rea are probably locks. I hope Gasser is the next guy. He did well at AAA, so his time is now.

Ross will step in when there are any injuries (and there are always injuries).

I'd look at Ashby as a wild card. Don't count him for anything, but if it happens - awesome.

Small seems to be a reliever going forward.

I'd like to see Rodriguez get a half season at AAA and see how he does. He might be ready by mid-season if needed.

I like this, but he's another guy who just can't stay healthy.  If he could, he'd be gone by now.

Right, that's why he's available at all.  Also why its only a 1 year risk so could be a spot for MKE.  If they have decided to splurge a bit this year in last year of Burnes while knowing their financial commitments drop off to nothing other than Yelich next year he could be one that make sense. Hope you get over 20 starts out of him with good results could help shift 100+ innings away from unknowns or known replacement level Rhea/Ross/Teheran or whatever random they pick up midseason type starts

I am generally in agreement with those that think one of our opening day starting rotation and isn't on the roster yet. Whether it's a FA major league deal, or finding a vet on a bounce back deal, I don't think we roll with all of rea, Ross, Miley in the rotation. I suspect specifically one of Ross/rea won't have it this year to the same degree they did last year and will be out matched. I have similar concerns about the bullpen.

I think the team is done adding FA pitching, outside of a minor-league contract on a starter. They will want to have the financial-flexibility to add what they need at the deadline.

They go at least 8 deep with starters —

Burnes-Peralta-Miley-Rea-Gasser-Ross-McKendry-Ashby. CRod can rotation if needed at some point in the second-half.

That’s a deep and potentially strong rotation.

Retaining financial-flexibility gives them the ability to add a starter at the deadline if needed.

We already have an old, injury prone, left hander in our rotation in Miley. I am not opposed to adding Ryu if the price is right but would much rather add a bat.

This.

Gasser shouldn't have anything left to prove in AAA. There's Ashby.  Those 2 along with Burnes, Freddy, and Miley make 5.  You still have Rea and Ross.  Seems pretty set for Spring Training.

You mention Rodriguez and when thinking of Ashby, I'd wonder if getting starts from him til mid-season and then inserting him in bullpen. How many innings or games started would they push on him? So in come Rodriguez mid-season to take over if you don't make a trade instead.

I'm pretty sure the plans are to have Rea in the starting rotation.  I haven't seen anything that says otherwise anyplace.

We ******* traded Burnes for that ****?? We better be signing Jordan Montgomery or something. Im so pissed right now.

What was the point of Hoskins if you trade Burnes for THAT?

No more Burnes...

Peralta

Miley

Rea

Ross

Gasser

Ashby if healthy

We need to trade, sign an FA

According to Arnold, expect Hall in the rotation.

Rotation could be pretty exciting with guys like Hall, Gasser, & Ashby. Plus Longshots like Carlos Rodriguez & Misiorowski..

I have a hard time bashing this trade when the arm the Brewers get in return is as electric as Hall's - his floor is a dynamic reliever capable of going multiple innings, and he's got a much better pitch arsenal than Hader so Hall will get an opportunity to be a starter in the major leagues.

At this point for me.

1)Peralta 2)Miley 3)Rae 4)Ashby 5)Gasser 6)Hall    Ross, Wilson as long relief

Go with the highest upside starters at this point. Make adjustment as needed during the year.

I like Ryu but fear he is to mich like Miley and wouldn't be as effective  facing similar lefties.

Lorenzen, Clevinger, and 2nd tier starters don't have enough upside to bury our young guys in my opinion.

Snell and Monty to expensive.

I could live with Bauer but am hesitant.

Probably can add some young arms by trading other vets.

So 1.Peralta 2.Miley 3.Rea 4.Gasser 5.Hall 6,Ashby if healthy/Ross.

I'd like one more solid guy. Another Rea-type to solidify the rotation. Especially since Miley will get injured at some point and Ashby probably won't be ready at the start of the season.

I would really like Clevinger.... Can totally get behind Peralta, Clevinger, Miley, Hall, Rea.... And Ashby when he's ready.

I've seen 2 years- 22M which could be decent. I understand the concerns about blocking prospects but I really want us to have a solid rotation and prospects can do what Burnes, Woody, Freddy did in 2018.

I forgot to include Ashby, if he's healthy... He's in the rotation now.

Peralta

Ashby

Rea

Hall

Miley

I put Rea #3 just to break up the LHPs.

I definitely like this!

I kind of hate it. Huge question marks from Ashby, Rea and Hall. Miley has been solid but frequently hurt. Not a lot of confidence in that group.
