I think the Mets make a lot of sense, between Severino, Manaea, and Quintana if he gets a bit better. Severino would be my target, Manaea would be an OK get.  Manaea's option wouldn't scare me away completely but it would reduce the price I would pay for him.

Flaherty would be a great option if the Tigers continue to fade. I think his price might be a little higher.

I have been wondering if there might be a way to package some relievers to Texas. When Scherzer, DeGrom, and Mahle get healthy there they will have like 8 quality starters. Jon Gray for Devin Williams would be interesting to me, they each have a year of control left, Gray has been spectacular this year and the Rangers wouldn't do that now, but come late June that trade could be a perfect win win.

Andrew Heaney for Payamps might be more economical.

Deadline deals between two contenders have been rare, but Milwaukee & Texas might actually match up well enough to buck the norm. Intriguing.

One thing that could prove beneficial is that over the last few trade cycles, it seems like teams are treating their prospects with a little more "respect," for lack of a better word. It's been harder for teams to get trading partners to give up their tippy-top prospects.

So just like the O's didn't part with their tippy-top guys, perhaps the Brewers can still get a pretty good starting option w/o having to give up Misiorowski, Quero, Black or Wilken. Maybe Boeve and Lara with say, Logan Henderson and Bitoni would be enough to entice the Marlins to give up Luzardo.

edit to add: aha! It looks like Bleacher Report and I think similarly --- which is disappointing.

Out of these three guys, Severino is really the only one I would be interested in. Manaea has a decent sized player option for 2025 and Quintana has been bad.

Tylor Megill has a 1.119 WHIP and SO/9 of 12.09 and is a FA in 2028...if we are giving up prospects for Mets pitching why not have Tylor in the convo???

I'd at least kick the tires on a former Cy Young winner who is currently 8-0 in 10 starts and striking out about 13 per 9IP...especially when he could be signed for peanuts and no prospect capital would need to be sent away to acquire him.

I think everyone gets at this point that Bauer is available.

Yeah, believe there was a report that the Astros watched him throw a bullpen recently.

They are pretty much in the perfect spot on the Venn diagram of "Already Hated Franchise" and "Need SP Badly" and "Six Games Under .500 Almost Halfway Through The Season"...but does not appear as though they've reached Bauer levels of desperation just yet.

Blue Jays are falling further and further out of a playoff spot.  Kikuchi is the pitcher I want and he shouldn’t cost all that much to get either.

I worry about the amount of teams still in the wild card race and how many will buy that should sell.

The more I look at it the more I love a trade with Texas. They could use relief and OF help and we could use SP and and IF for next year.

I am growing more fond of Garrett Crochet weekly and getting a little less concerned by his past by every start. We could build a bunch of interesting offers that would mitigate some long term concern. I've mentioned this before but Crochet would be a good candidate to take a team friendly extension as well.
