It probably was a configuration issue. It cost money to run servers. They hadn't configured it to run enough (or powerful enough) servers. More specifically they didn't have it configured to add more power on demand. It wouldn't make sense to run enough servers every day all year. I once fixed my mobile app's performance problems by updating a configuration on a server. Someone had set the max size growth kind of low and nobody had looked at it as we got more and more users over the years.

Would be better to just go with cloud servers as they can scale up and down depending on demand.  A lot of companies are going away from physical servers (on premise) to the cloud servers.

It was chaotic though because for the thousands that it didn't work for there were still threats of heavy fines/tow. Later on inside it was clear that wouldn't happen but not a great business practice to make their customers wonder if their car will be there when leaving the game.

Didn't see any stories about this, but the new parking system was in place on Saturday.  I hadn't heard any announcement that they were trying this again.  It was a little confusing getting into the parking lot.  They seemed to be parking the cars differently than they normally did.  Instead of parking right behind each other they seemed to be go trying to park you in the next stall over before filling in the back stall.  That might have been what was creating the confusion.  Other than that it seemed to work fine.

I wonder if that was the reason they had the brewers out in the parking lots throwing freebies to the fans.  Just in case the system blew up again.

Haven’t seen or heard a word about this…. News to me.

We were at the game Saturday and I didn’t notice anything different.

We have prepaid preferred parking that I bought as part of our 10 pack and someone scanned my parking ticket as we entered just like always, someone further along checked it and waved us into the same lot where we usually park and we were directed to a space.

We were in the Molitor lot.  Maybe they decided to do a trial run on just one lot.

Yeah, I saw a feature on TV last night that said they are trying it in certain lots.

We arrived at our first game of the just-completed homestand to find the Molitor Lot set up for the QR code-based parking system.  We needed a bit of direction for that first game, but parking attendants were plentiful, and one of them explained that they were testing in that lot only.  Learning that made it make more sense that they didn't announce anything in advance (which TBH would probably have riled people up more than anything else).

Since then it's been smooth sailing for us - with the exception that an attendant was back in place at the entrance to Molitor for the Cleveland series.  The person there on Friday explained to us that there was a problem with the system again.  I don't know if that's true or simply the explanation provided.  They could have been testing in another lot that series, for all I know.

I know they are going to try again next homestand, but at this point why don't think just table it until 2025?

They must have stuck big money into this.
Right…easy thing would be to wait until 2025. Interesting that the concert this weekend isn’t using it. And interesting that they wait til after summer weekend games to reinstate it. Ironically, they probably don’t need it til end of year as car back ups and sellouts will be minimal…. Until playoffs, that is.

I am generally bothered by the ubiquity of QR code phenomenon. I'm no luddite, but in my experiences, the whole thing ends up being more clunky than it's worth.

I'd much rather be able to drive right into the parking lot and deal with a QR code for a minute or two than sit in line for a half hour because everyone is paying with cash.

Me too... except for when the app crashes, or my phone glitches, or when some other kind of exception takes place where one requires assistance. It's like telephone customer service. We would all prefer to not have to wait for the live person, and simply punch the right combination of numbers to get what we need, but seriously, it's been what? 40 years of telephone customer service, and we all end up waiting for the live person because the options simply don't cover what we need about half the time.

Will there still be a semblance of parking attendance? Gotta be.

Will there still be several issues….seen and not foreseen with the new parking system? Absolutely.  And backups are still going to happen for other reasons for years to come with construction on 94 too…that problem will be fresh next fall.

I’m not sure this whole fiasco is worth the cost and effort when those two questions can be easily answered. It’s solving a problem kinda while creating several other ones of varying degree.

Half my group who went couldn't pay. We had to use a different person's phone to pay for parking.

Clearly something was bugged with the payments.

I accidently purchased General Parking.  How do I go about upgrading to Preferred?

Thanks

I'd call the ticket office at 414-902-4000.  If the folks there aren't the ones who can help, they'll know who can.

Was thinking about stadium parking the other day....how many EV charging stations do the AmFam lots currently have?

I've never seen any.  As a part-owner of a plug-in hybrid, I'd be happy to see some, someday.
