I figured they'd get more from Frelick but maybe he's just fighting himself now or what. Not sure but he looks like he's lost a lot of his power, of which was questionable to begin with.

If Sal can consistently get deep into counts, not chase & get back to spraying the ball a little more like he did last season I think he could be pretty valuable even w/o much power. "Fighting himself" actually describes what I see from him pretty well.

Chourio needs to face MLB pitchers. He's already made the first adjustment and is chasing and striking out a lot less.

Ok, but he never lit AAA on fire.  He could have used some more refining there, and I'm not sure that can be argued.

Yeah, we paid him the money, but some more time in AAA can and would do him well.  Probably not possible with our depleted outfield, but if they sent him down at their first opportunity, I'd be fine with it.

I think jostling him around the lineup and now sitting him 3x in 7 games isn't going to help him any. Cement him in a position and give him every day at bats. Let him work through it. It's not like Jake Bauers is giving quality at bats either. Play the kid and let him see MLB pitchers. It's not like he's pressing like Jackson Holliday was when he got his call or he looked completely overwhelmed like Black did.

Don't bat him leadoff one day and then 8th the next and then 9th the next. Don't play him in LF one day and then RF the next. Keep him in RF and keep him hitting 8th or 9th and let him figure it out. Give him less to think about and let his natural ability take over.

This!

And for God's sake,  stop pinch hitting him for guys who are more than likely going to suck even worse than he is right now...

Love his future, but his present isn't quite ready yet.

I agree 100%, your throwing players into a whirlwind by bouncing them to a different position every game. Not every player can handle that.

I'm sure most don't appreciate it at all.

Also, changing the batting order every game is also a distraction, plug him into a regular defensive position, and place in the line-up and let him play if we are set on keeping him up.

I think we need to stick with the plan of using this as a "transition year" to our next wave of talent (which Chourio is the centerpiece of). Sure winning is fun, and we've done that for the most part this season, but development must take precedence. Which is part of why I'm frustrated with the roadblocks that guys like Bauers and Dunn to a lesser extent are becoming to our younger guys getting in the lineup.

Unless Chourio starts looking completely overmatched at the plate, which he really hasn't (especially lately), the upside of letting him figure things out now against MLB pitching outweighs whatever benefits he can obtain from feasting on AAA pitching. Because the faster he figures things out for us at the major league level the better, and AAA pitching just isn't of a high enough quality these days to serve as an effective substitute. The fact that we're paying him like a major league player right now only adds to that incentive.

When the crew went young with Weeks Fielder Hardy Hart Lucroy etc those guys played and learned by doing every day. The Brewers need to get on with the youth movement and play the talented young players. There is no upside to Bauers Dunn etc.

And your replacements would be? (keep in mind there's a 40-man roster to deal with).

NOTE: I'm not a big Bauers fan, I panned the trade when it happened. But I don't think it's over-the-top to say they might have 2-3 less wins than they do just on his defense at 1B alone. He made a handful of plays in crucial situations Hoskins may or may not have made & Black almost certainly wouldn't have. Even though I didn't like the acquisition I'm trying to be open-minded about his play on both ends of the floor, to borrow a hoops term. And the defensive end is usually overlooked on fan boards.

I'll note again that the comment I originally replied to was about guys being "not fun" to watch at the plate so that's why defense was not brought up. I'm sure you read further along in the thread and saw a similar response IRT Perkins from another poster.

As far as my replacements? Well, I'd view this year as a transitional year and I'd just roll with the youth. Let them take their lumps and stop with this nonsense that we're "competing for a World Series." It makes more sense to let guys like Chourio, Frelick, Black, Turang, Ortiz and Wiemer/Mitchell (when healthy) take their lumps and develop against MLB pitching rather than continuing to trot out street fodder like Bauers, Dunn and Perkins in everyday lineups.

We'd be in a much better position in 2025 to actually compete with a (hopefully) healthy Woodruff and prospects that you'd hope to be ready to jump into the rotation like Gasser and Misiorowski and maybe even someone like Tyler Woessner rather than the rotation we have now.

Let the kids play. I'm not gonna pay money to go see Blake Perkins and Jake Bauers, that's for certain.
