I think we're better off, at this point, just keeping both and hoping Connaughton can get back to being a really key contributor off the bench. I don't know who really wants him at this point...he doesn't have much value, but he's another tough, physical glue guy type. And he can be traded next year or in-season.

And I hope they don't give up on Marjon. Trent is likely just a one-year 'solution.'

Marjon is going to get no playing time with Doc.  So he will have to learn by sitting on the bench?  I don't see how the Bucks don't trade Marjon at this point.  As he is going to be used right now by Doc as a garbage time player.  So the Bucks have already given up on Marjon.

  • A Jax hasn't really developed at all. He is the same uncontrolled spaz on the court he was last season. That is a problem for his future.

Can you explain what you mean by this?  I didn't see anything this summer, but what I recall of AJax playing last year was that he was constantly active...but not necessarily out of control active.

Any examples of being a "spaz?"

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Oh man. He is just going full speed all the time out there. SO, fly bys (like Connie on steroids); passes flying into the stands; silly fouls. Nothing under control. What I would hope for in a year two player with his innate athleticism: some semblance of understanding pace; better feel; and more control of his game. He was a trainwreck except for a web gem Sportscenter Top Plays mega follow-up jam. Beyond that, and a three here and there, he just was not a net positive on the court.

An upgrade over Beas

An upgrade in pretty much every way.

He'll work nicely with Dame.

The additions of Trent, Delon Wright and Taurean Prince seem like improvements all around from last year. Add in a full offseason for everyone - and we are good.

I could see Milwaukee trying to about $5m in salary to get them under the 2nd Tax Apron. How to do that is a good question. Trading someone is the likely answer. Pat C looks more and more like the odd man out. Makes around $9.5m. So if you could deal him for someone making under $5m - and have them eat the rest - that works. Of course, most teams have used up their cap space. Perhaps attached a 2nd round pick to make it happen. Or maybe if someone to MarJon on as a project. I just don't see him getting much playing time this year.

We shall see.

For those who practice overinvesting opinions in Summer League action:

I will say it once again. The bar is pretty low, but, this is the most raw talent the Bucks have seen in a draft pick since Giannis. So much raw separating talent in this young man's skillset. I am already dreaming of what might be possible here. We Bucks fans should be very thankful Horts may have had his Hambone moment.

Regarding A-Jax (unlike Marjon), it's clear Doc loves him and he'll likely find rotation minutes 'somewhere' (despite looking like a total spaz 😄):

Yeah I don't see much if any playing time for Marjon.

Yeah, I don't know that's true at all. We'll see how the season goes, but I know stating definitively on July 18th that he won't get any playing time is just a bit premature.

And you know players develop in the off-season, in practice, in a myriad of ways even if he's not getting early season PT...though I suspect with Dame, K-Midd, then the litany of other players who will inevitably miss time due to injury.

You don't see how the Bucks don't trade Marjon? I don't see why they would. He's 23, shot 40% from 3, can defend...it'd be foolish to give up on him. He played for 4 different coaches, 3 last year, was banged up down the stretch. And again, what are they getting from him? How'd it go from trading Connaughton or Beauchamp to not being able to envision a scenario in which they simply DON'T trade a particular player?

"So the Bucks have already given up on Marjon," based on...your previous assumptions. Maybe they have. I don't know. It'd seem pretty foolish to move on from a young player this quickly.

To me, Chris Livingston looks like a young guy who can get into the rotation but he’s got to get the chance.  I love how he plays.  Competitive, sticks his nose in there, plays team ball.  He can rebound.  Tough kid.  He brings an edge that we are always looking for.  I get that he’s young but we can use him and start working him towards getting experience.

I don't personally even see a roster spot.

What a failure that'd be on the Bucks player development staff.

Drump a 1st rd pick who's actually performed in the limited chances he's had over 2 years and 4 coaches, two of whom notoriously don't like playing young kids...

He can defend, he can shoot the 3 and he's cheap. Unless someone sees more value in him and are willing to give something up to get him...that'd be an embarrassing move.

I don't know if it's any more embarrassing than the litany of other blown 1st rd picks not named Giannis. It's a skill Hambone passed to Horts.

Marjon was just absolutely awful in the summer league.  I don’t see how he gets much if any playing time.  He would probably be better off playing in the G league over sitting on the bench.  He looked awful at both ends of the court.  Piss poor defense and absolutely horrible offensive play.  He definitely didn’t show any improvement over last year.
