Possibly because Chourio is hitting 221/265/345/610 this year and 206/250/309/559 over the last month? He probably does need to go down for a while to get back on track.

Meanwhile, Bauers is hitting 108+ on the year and 260/327/540/867 over the last month.  Not sure why people are so down on him? He minimized his leg kick and seems to be on fire since.

I don’t disagree with your thoughts here

If Chourio isn’t going to start here - send him to Nashville to play daily

Anyone who's watched Chourio's ABs over the last two weeks or so can see some pretty big steps forward in terms of AB quality. K rate has dovetailed to less than 10%. Not many XBHs yet, but he's also been hitting the ball harder than he ever has. Chourio was paid $80 million to get ABs and figure it out at the big league level. Not to be relegated to a bench role after one month.

If anyone needs to go down to get back on track, it's Frelick...

He’s due a great game

He’s been okay but not exceptional in his last few starts

It's the Cardinals.

I'm glad the pinstripes are back. For a while I thought they dumped them after only one year.

I love the old pinstripes with the royal blue - not a fan of the newer ones

I love the cream home uniforms & the road greys

I’m okay with the Cub Scout navy blue road uniforms

I’m undecided on the Brew Crew city connect units - although I like the baby blue color

Bauers has proven over his major league career that he’s…..not a major league player. His one strength of first base defense is mitigated with him in the outfield. His strike out rate is unsustainable. Chourio is twenty, 1000 times more talented, and a better outfield defender. He needs to play through ups and downs to get better, not be benched for a replacement level player. Furthermore he was starting to take pitches very well and was raising his batting average in the week before this benching.

How Chourio has performed in his first month as the youngest player in the league should not merit a knee jerk reaction to an almost week long benching. He is known for making fantastic and effective adjustments throughout his career. Bauers is…..not known for that.

True and, sadly, true.

I like this thread. Every time we have a Bauers trashing fest he always hits a homer.

I'm fine with Bauers because he's been hitting the ball better the last week or so. But Frelick and Dunn...

Only in Milwaukee can the number 2 prospect in mlb be benched for 5 straight games and the manager and gm have yet to be asked why. Imagine NY or Boston.

Ready for him to start holding Oliver Dunn and Sal Frelick accountable.

This organization must have so much more invested in those guys over Chourio, right?

This is where a normal beat reporter would push and ask what he's being held accountable for and why Oliver Dunn isn't being held to same standards. Instead our beat reporters just accept the answer and move on.

This quote is begging for follow up. Accountable for what? Making outs? Not following game plan? Why is this the first we heard of this? Why not punish him with demotion so he can at least play. Again it has been apparent that Murphy is an old dude trying to make his mark before his successor who was picked for him and put on his staff takes over. This does not end well imo.

Would the beat reporter be at risk of losing their job if they asked tough questions? Or, would they risk losing special access in someways?

This feels like a game we are just not caring much about since we won the first two.

Stupid.

We will need every win come September, no sense in punting a game because we already have a split wrapped up.

I bet Freddy looked at the line-up and cussed in Spanish so Murphy couldn't understand him.

Did this sitting streak start after the outfield miscue with Adames?

Maybe that’s what is being referred to…… 4 games would seeM extreme for that……although he has been shaky in the outfield most of the season..

I would be fine if they sent him down……but don’t sit him for an extended period like this up here…….he needs to play somewhere.

Even then what about Frelick who's made multiple costly OF miscues, including one just this past week, and has been garbage with the bat?

Contronio isn’t a beat reporter……he does stats and research for TV and does a post game show on wtmj radio……

I get it……….without somebody asking Murphy we are all just guessing here

Honestly I just wish Ortiz was playing. There's no reason for Dunn to consistently play over him. I also wish Murphy would give Contreras some games off behind the plate. We have Sanchez and Contreras in the lineup today. Why not catch Sanchez and have Contreras DH? Maybe I'm the only one who is legitimately worried about Contreras burning out eventually with the catcher workload he has. This is our 39th game and he's caught 33 of them. He's our best/2nd best hitter and invaluable at the top of the order. If he burns out that would be a significant blow to the team.

My guess is with a day game after a night game tomorrow that is when Contreras will sit……..
