I think we could survive giving up Lara for a starting pitcher at the deadline, but I want no part in trading Wichrowski.  I think he is a future stud in the making, and trading him for 2-3 months of a rental wouldn't be wise imo.

It's wonderful to read these nat'l media guys, I learn so much. Never knew the Brewers were in a "current state of desperation".

I also would explore the possibility of including Lara, but he & Wichrowski? No, not for a half season of Flaherty.

I think some team will need to significantly overpay for Flaherty, as he is currently enjoying a career year. He's outperforming his past seasons by a significant margin --- not that he was poor in previous seasons.

Idk doesn't seem like too bad of a trade to me. Lara I don't think we would miss and Wichrowski, I haven't followed him too close but he's still kind of a lottery ticket in my eyes.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Probably about what a deal for him would be but I still worry about Flaherty. He wasn't good the last two years and I would worry about sending two really good prospects and then him regressing. I think for that price a guy like Fedde who has a year would be better or getting someone like Verlander or Severino for less.

This is the guy for the Brewers to target imo. Pitching like a bonafide #1 (with the peripherals to back it up) who you could even slot ahead of Freddy and doesn't have the innings concerns of a Crochet nor will he come with the exorbitant cost that #1's usually require.

If they had to part with Lara and Wichrowski to get Flaherty, I could probably stomach it. Lara is a nice prospect, but the power just isn't there to make us really regret it and we have the OF depth to spare. I also currently rate other arms from the 2023 class higher than Wichrowski. Get Flaherty and a Fedde and all of a sudden you're in business with your rotation and very well-positioned to compete against Phi and LA.

Doubt the Brewers would give up that much for a rental.

Wouldn't blame Detroit for trying again, worked out last time.

The more I think about it, the more this guy should be target #1 for the Brewers in terms of trading for a starter.  IF he's healthy.

The Tigers also match up pretty well with the Brewers via trade if they're looking for a young outfielder to be the centerpiece of a trade for Flaherty, too.

I'd still prefer the Brewers add a free agent starter right now, then potentially add to the rotation again via trade a little closer to the deadline....and a healthy Flaherty would be near the top of my list of gets for this team via trade.

The underlying metrics back it up. If anything, he's been unlucky. Whatever the prospect haul is for him, one or two of them will sting. Tigers are 6.5 out of the wild card. They could have a good 7 - 10 day stretch and decide to stand pat.
