Please help with this. Why were BOTH Weeks and Hook out to the mound in the 9th inning of Monday’s game? Is this allowed? I have never seen two coaches out there before? I saw Weeks bring out an extra infielder’s glove. Did that have anything to do with it?

I missed that, are you saying why did they come out there at the same time? I assume it's the number of visits that matters, not how many people come out.

Have you ever seen two? In all the times of watching baseball games, I haven’t.  Regardless the level.

I've never seen it. I'm assuming your speculation is right, that Weeks carrying the glove & setting the defensive alignment was the reason.

I looked at the writeup of the mound visit rule on MLB.com. It makes no mention one way or the other about multiple coaches visiting.🤷‍♂️

I only briefly watched Tuesday's telecast.  Wasn't something quickly mentioned?  I didn't quite catch it.

For sure, definitely not something you typically see!

I think so too…heard one of our tv guys say we learned something about mound visits.

Yes, they saw Weeks with the Glove, and speculated that Frelick would play 3rd(I believe that was because there was a lefty up). Then they put Frelick behind 2B, they were surprised.

They then commented on how they've gotta move the OFers, at least have them play in the LF-CF and CF-RF gaps...but BA(I think it was BA, whoever the Play by Play was) said he's got pull side splits on the ground, opposite in the air.

I didn't hear them really say much about both coaches coming out though. But...that was why. Murph probably told Rickie to grab Frelick's IF glove as he headed out, Weeks was a little behind, just there to deliver it.

I can't remember it happening before...but I really didn't think much about this occasion. I'd have to remember back to when they brought Braun in to play IF(that's the last player I can recall them doing this with, though IDK if that's the last time they actually did this.

I am pretty sure both Weeks and Hook were on the mound talking/discussing/listening…..not just a delivery. But maybe I am wrong and Weeks just delivered glove.

I feel like you see multiples come out all the time, but typically with an injury situation.

In this case, Hook wanted to talk about approach to the next batter and Weeks wanted to address the defensive scheme. It was allowed. It didn't work. I assume it has happened before.

I can't think of a particular situation, but I'm pretty sure I've seen the pitching coach go out first, to buy time for an RP to get ready in the BP.  Then the coach came out to make the change.

Not a situation in this day with the pitch clock, but in the slow-ball era of infinite delays.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
