The DSL Crew Dos are getting knocked around 6-1 through four frames. They are being outhit 10-to-1 BUT that sole knock is a...wait for it...

Lead-off man CF Jose Anderson HR! His second in two days. His 6th of his summer. Barring results elsewhere, Anderson is in sole possession of most DSL HR this summer. Coming into today's contest he was tied at 5 with several others.

INF Jesus Made says: "No way, Jose!" He hits his fourth long ball of his summer knotting the game with a two-run jack of his own. It's a 2-2 game in the bottom of the third frame.

THIS international class is bananas. Let's GO!

Anderson already is tied for sixth on the Brewers’ all-time single season DSL homer list with, among others, Orlando Arcia and Yophery Rodriguez. He has a shot at Eduarqui Fernandez’s record if he keeps this pace up.

Juan Ortuno with an RBI double to push the DSL Brewers 1 lead to 4-2. Ortuno hasn't had the press that Made, Pena, Anderson have had, but he's had a great start to the season.

Jose Anderson with a 3B in the 6th inning. With a 3B and HR already, we are officially on cycle watch!

This just in (I know, shocker!): That knock has been changed to a double.

(Honestly, waiting for them to change the tallies to a different player. Maybe even different team! 🤭)

Yeah, he hasn't been the absolute everyday guys Made and Pena have been on that roster. But, despite the lack of long balls, he is definitely getting on base and showing a really advanced pitch recognition at only 17 years of age (until mid-April of next year!!). Possibly showing some gap power as his season is progressing ( 3B and 2B today) and swiping some bags in the process. Yet another player in this class to have tempered excitement about. I mean 14 BB-to-11 K is dynamic at 'just turned 17'. Pair that with an OPS North of 1.000 and a BA North of 0.300 in over 50 AB? Whewwww.

Did it get changed back to a triple because it's still showing as a triple for me.

Speaking of Eduarqui, he has to have some of the worst BABIP luck in the system this season. He is absolutely consistently ripping balls over the past couple months. Sooooo many of those balls go right to the opponent.

He was 15th in the DSL with a 177 wRC+ (min. 50 PA) coming into today and he's really flying under the radar because of Made and Anderson's power output and Pena's power/speed combo.

Honestly, he probably already hit for the cycle?

Luis Pena is 0-4 and probably only has 1 more PA (barring some big offensive innings) to continue his streak of reaching base safely in every single game this year.

The 16-5 DSL Red Sox Red clearly didn't want a cycle hit against them so Anderson walked in his 4th PA. Cycle watch is officially over.

Saul Sanchez goes three up three down three strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh for DSL Uno, who currently have a 9 to 3 lead over the Dodgers Bautista squad in the top of the eighth.

Victor Garcia also pitched a pair of scoreless, hitless frames with 1 HBP | 3 BB | 4 K.

That's a wrap. Los Cerveceros Dos have won 10-3. Sanchez went another frame scoreless (really having a nice season in relief). 19-year-old RHP Jhosep Ospino got a lil rambunctious in the bottom of the ninth - a tip of the cap to DSL Specials through the years. A single, SB, BB, HB. Bases juiced. Nobody down. He says: "Memories and acknowledgments of DSL Specials are but fleeting emotions. Let's get real!" K and DP to end the threat.

They move to 15-8. They've won 5 straight. They are a mere 1.0 GB the Orioles Orange.

As will appear in Saturday AM's Link Report:

Final: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 10, DSL Dodgers Bautista 3
Box Score and Game Log

Four Team Uno pitchers combined on a five-hitter, though it wasn't pretty, Cerveceros hurlers walked nine, plunked three, threw four wild pitches, and committed a balk. All three Dodgers runs scored against starter Joshua Quezada, the 20-year-old Nicaragua native acquired from the Yankees for LH reliever Clayton Andrews (who is now a minor league free agent). Quezada did scuffle his way through four innings, and the three relievers that followed managed to throw shutout ball despite all the traffic.

For LA:

Team RISP: 1-for-10.
Team LOB: 13.

Yes, that explains that.

Your eyes are not fooling you, that is an 0-for-5 next to Luis Pena's name, dropping his OPS to "only" 1.140. Pena did not K, and his best chance for a knock was in his final at-bat when he lined out to third base. First hitless contest of Pena's career, snapping a 20-game hit streak.

It was a bit more balanced here, but on a game-for-game basis, the demarcation of production between the upper and lower halves of the Squad #1 lineup is very pronounced. Jesus Made, playing second base with Pena at short, INF/OF Juan Martinez (LF here) and corner INF/OF Juan Ortuno (1B here) each had big games. Each, like Pena, is 17 years old.

Made's OPS is oh-so-close with Pena's now at 1.135 after this game which included Made's 4th home run. Ortuno tripled and doubled. Martinez singled twice and stole his 6th base, caught just once thus far.

On a daily basis, Team Uno is essentially throwing out the equivalent of the Betts-Ohtani-Freeman-Smith level of production atop the lineup. No better team to show that off to than Friday's LA affiliate.

All those gaudy numbers, and we're just 23 games into the DSL season.

As will appear in Saturday AM's Link Report:

Final: DSL Red Sox Red 9, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 6
Box Score and Game Log

Do the Red Sox Red boys play Go-Duck-Go during warmups? Whatever they are doing, it's working, as the Boston team is now 17-5. Checks standings - Red Sox Blue is only 8-14.

Team Dos was outhit 16-6. Brewers bats did reach base via BB or HBP four times, but Milwaukee pitchers doled out seven walks on top of the 16 knocks allowed. Thirteen of the hits allowed were singles, but still not a stellar mound day for the Crew Dos.

18-year-old RHP Oliver Camilo, a 2nd-year Dominican native, allowed his first earned run in this, his 9th appearance of the season, totaling only 9.1 innings. That's a far cry from the 11.51 ERA Camilo posted in 12 games (three starts) in 2023.

Batting:
3B: Anderson (1, Rojas); Quintana (2, Rojas).

The exciting thing about the most exciting play in baseball (well, save for inside-the-park HR's) is that these two triples came in back-to-back at-bats from two prized prospects. Quintana has the huge bonus pedigree, but Anderson also clubbed long ball # 6, the 17-year-old sending it out to center field and beyond. Goodness, Anderson has 23 RBI in 21 games, but management has him hitting leadoff occasionally. including here.

Weather: 1 degrees, Sunny.

Funny, it was 80 degrees warmer for the Team Uno road game. 🙂
