Let's go Ashby. I can only hope this is the turnaround. But I thought that about a month ago too.

I will have to watch his performance from tonight and compare it to June to see if I am ready to believe.

I'm definitely not ready 'to believe'. LOL. BUT, like Wiemer I'm just really happy for him to experience a really good outing. It has to feel good. It's a small step on the path.

AND, just like that Wiemer pokes a reach line drive single into CF. That's a 3-hit evening. 9-1 game. Bases still juiced. Nobody out. Collins to the dish.

O'Rae painfully sends a run across on an inside plunk (looks fine after the HBP). The bases were juiced. It's now a 7-2 game. And, the bases are still juiced in Chattahoochie. Zero outs. AND, a WP plates another Sounds. 10-1 game.

MOaR ruNS!!!!!

Hicklen leans into an inside breaker and takes an RBI HBP off his elbow guard. Savvy. 11-1 Sounds. Zero outs. Miller will have a chance at a five pitch evening here. What a game baby! Cubbies getting smacked. Gotta love it.

Looking like a lefty out of the pen

Likely so. I am still in the bottom of the 8th. He has sat for an incredibly long time as this inning goes on and on. Smart decision. End his outing on a sweet note and don't risk injury after he cooled off. Nope. Ashby will come back aboard. He gets a grounder to 3B to start the frame and Dorrian can't gather it - likely scored an error.

Fitting that Ashby ends the night on a K looking on a slider. He gives up a second run but, really, he was done in by the misplayed grounder to 3B and a come-backer that caromed off his glovehand and died on the grass to put two aboard with nobody out.

The main thing here was: He had a much much better outing than we've seen in quite some time. You love to see it.

RHP Caden Vire with a clean 1 IP, 1 BB, 0 H, 2 K inning of relief tonight for the ACL Crew who still lead 1-0 in the 4th frame. I'm not used to an ACL nailbiter. Let's hope they hold on!

Wiemer just flashed some bat control I wasn't aware he had to hit a soft liner to CF for an RBI single on a breaking ball that was well outside.

I think, more importantly, perhaps, was he laid off the outside slider that was even further out of the zone. The bat control you speak of was indeed surprising and quite nice - hey, a professional hit right der!

Biloxi with a 5 spot to also sport an 11-2 lead, as Nashville closes the 11-2 win.

Who had 11-2 in scoreboard bingo?

And who had 7K in 5IP for Ashby. He was much more in control tonight. Looks like the in few innings I have seen he is closer to 50-60% locating pitches which was more like 40% a month ago. So a noticeable bump. Some pitches were poorly executed, but he was more in command. And the fastball even got some bad swings which is a great sign even for one night. Plus velocity was still up to 96 in his 3rd inning of relief.

LHP Russ Smith comes back to the hill after likely resting for a good half hour or so during the Shuckers bases loaded run fest. He walks the batter on 5 pitches to lead off his 8th frame.

This is the first time he has had back to back scoreless outings in his career. Hopefully he is healthy and ready to start stringing good appearances together.

He was a bit shaky early. But, by the third frame of a 5 IP stint he was really really finding a groove. The velo hung 95-96 mph the entire outing. Great sign. This is a building block by my eyes. Nothing more. But, it's nice to have a fun outing for a change.

RHP Easton McGee with a scoreless 2 IP (2 H, 2 K) in an opener role. The rehabbing Minor League FA signing from late last year is building up some arm strength as he looks to return to Triple-A ball.

RHP Will Childers will be given the opportunity for mop-up duty in the bottom of the 9th. Shuckers lead 11-2. Let's have a clean inning, Will.

True. Inning 2 for him was shaky, but his 4th inning (the 8th inning) was his best. I think all his pitches were good, maybe one that was a total miss. But had batters guessing with the curve, slider, fastball and even a change up. Don't recall that from last month, but it may have been called something else in other games/telecasts.

A swinging K. A sky high pop fly out. Childers isn't messing around with his food. You absolutely love this type of mop up work. Facing a lefty here he falls to 2-0 on the third batter faced. He gets the foul grounder down the 1B line on a heater. A gorgeous breaker hits the outer black. 2-2 count. Back in his favor. He misses wide and outside. 3-2 count. He throws a breaker to the lower outer corner and gets a fly out to Cargo in CF. Well done, Will. Keep grinding. 11-2 Shuckers Dub. What a fantastic week of baseball down yonder (despite the rain outs wayyyy down yonder).

So the top affiliates (AAA,AA,A+,A) gave up a grand total of 6 runs in 4 games yesterday, and 4 wins

And today, a grand total of 4 runs in 3 games, and a 3-0 record (with a rainout).

Pretty impressive pitching for the affiliates the past two days.

The system has been so much fun to watch this year. Biloxi finally playing good baseball (full season record is 1 game under .500). Wisconsin and Carolina have been amazing all year. ACL has struggled but as by far the youngest team in the ACL that was expected. The DSL teams have been better than anyone could have imagined. Outside of the injury bug there really has been nothing major to complain about this season other than Biloxi not having a CF camera for a third of the year.

It's a seven-inning affair in the desert. And, the Brewers are clinging to a 1-0 lead here in the top of the 6th. And, it looks like trouble is a brewing for 19-year-old Jesus Flores. The ACL Padres have plated 3. And, they are still doing damage with only one down. Flores appears to be getting poked around and, well, there is a bunch of confusing classic ACL game log somethings. LOL. He manages to escape without further harm. That's now 6 H registered in 3 IP. It's a 3-1 deficit. The Crew will have two more half innings to try and reclaim this one.
